Post Game Fireworks

Only Pitt decides to have fireworks after a game and the first anyone hears about it is five days before the game. Then next week everyone will sit around wondering why fireworks didn't bring in a larger crowd.

Saturday Night games are the best. Why wouldnt a season ticket holder miss this game? It should be an entertaining opponent and a great night out on the town. Have some fun all you negative bastards.

I am probably the only one annoyed by the fireworks. Hopefully that will make my exit easier.

I don't leave early...I will leave after the game. I just don't get the fascination with fireworks.
No one over the age of 10 does either. It's not a life changing event. 5-10 minutes of pops and colorful lights. Don't over think it

We usually stay well after the game. Why battle the traffic when there are now options on the Northshore?

Da missus & I usually stop and have an appetizer and a beverage (non-alcoholic for me, the driver).

The next game will be a Star Wars theme, and the one following that is take your dog to Heinz Field. Should work well.

in all seriousness, freakin bobble heads will help. Who the hell wouldn't want a James Conner bobblehead, decked out in a retro pitt uni? That's a nice man-cave addition.

Take your dog to the game event would make me sick. Hate when the pirates do that. leave the animals at home folks, the pets don't care and it's not cute, it really isn't.

It is to draw folks and make the night fun for attendees. Have a couple beers, watch fireworks, on a nice evening. Every Pitt fan I know are happy we have a game under the lights and unlike Steeler night games I'm not working the next day.

Not a fan either. But, hey, if the other folks like 'em, more power to 'em. I'm bolting after the 4th quarter.

It is a nice addition but I believe all of us here are going to watch the Football and don't care for the Fireworks. Should we need this? No. I guess they have to do what they have to do.

It wasn't a night game until a few days ago so how were they supposed to have fireworks during the day?

Pitt knew it was going to be a night game 8 days before they announced fireworks. Pitt almost certainly knew there was a good possibility of a night game long before that, or at least they did if anyone at Pitt spends even one tenth of the time thinking about start times that SMF does. And someone at Pitt surely ought to be paying attention to start times.

As it is Pitt will have a promotion that no one other than Pitt fans who were mostly going to go to the game anyway will know about. If that's someone's idea of good marketing they need to find another line of work.

The best thing Pitt could do is to take a cue from the Pirates and Minor League Baseball teams and build a true promotional schedule to get people to the venue. Fireworks, discount food/beverage promotions, post-game concerts, etc would go a long way to filling the yellow seats.

Pitt should have a dunk Nordy/ Pedey boy baseball toss or kick Nordy/ Pedey boy in the tail promotion. I'd kick in a grand to be able to give these two a kick in the tail end.

Speaking of the former AD....rumor is he and the wifey-poo are moving to the mistake on the lake--Cleveland. Don't let the door hit you.... Hail to Pitt!

We sold about 56k season ticket packages. If someone wants to see fireworks then they will watch them outside the stadium. Do you really think Pitt would have sold a lot of single tickets to this game because of fireworks?

Cleveland? Who moves to Cleveland in retirement? Self- flagellation as atonement for what he did to Pitt? Only plausible explanation. The egotist that he is it must really eat at him knowing he can't risk going to a Pitt sporting event.

Then what is the point? I mean you do understand that the point of promotions at sporting events is to sell more tickets, right?

There are two choices here. Either Pitt agrees with you that fireworks aren't going to sell tickets, in which case having fireworks is a waste of money. Or Pitt did think that fireworks would help sell tickets, in which case not advertising the promotion will cause them to sell far fewer tickets than could have been sold, which is a waste of money. No matter which of the two you believe, having a fireworks promotion and then not promoting it is really stupid and a waste of money.

A bititiching yinzer is a happy yinzer.

And stupidity from the Pitt athletic department is stupidity from the Pitt athletic department. They've been doing this kind of crap for literally decades under all sorts of different administrations. The more things change the more things stay the same.

Let's put you in charge. Then everyone in the universe can chant:

Just out of curiosity, which of the two choices do you subscribe to? That Pitt knows that fireworks won't sell any extra tickets so it's a waste of money or Pitt thought they would sell more tickets in which case not advertising them is costing them money?

I don't understand the angst over this...quit being miserable, maybe they just wanted to do this for the fans........

I bet you are one of those people who hates something but still watches it and says "this freaking sucks"

I still have 2 of them, kept for posterity. I also have pictures of my youngest daughter when she around 2, standing in her Strawberry Shortcake PJ's with the stick inside the neckline and Ironhead's picture covering her face. Great picture. A mini-Ironhead in little girl's PJ's.

This is not the pirates with 1000 home games, each with a promotion set and advertised before the season starts. This Pitt game was set 10 days before your rant began. If you pay attention there is advertising of this event in the papers and radio.
Unless you are an insider in the Pitt athletic marketing department you have no idea what promotions were or were not considered. Barnes &Co. have done a good job promoting Pitt Football so far. I'll give the brnefit of the doubt. You obviously will not.
Hail to Pitt.

As I thought, answering the question would show the ridiculousness of your position so you decided not to answer.
