Just wanted to type up my thoughts on the season the good, and the bad and what I am looking forward to going into the offseason, and my hopes for next season.
The Good:
- The Defense (So glad I can finally say this), it was a bit rocky at the start but at the end of the year (See Miami Tape), the team got after the QB and the DBs learned how to cover 1 on 1 without getting PI's.
- KENNY PICKETT our QB for the next 3 seasons has all the tools can escape the pocket throw on the run, sit in the pocket and pick apart a D, and when it breaks down he's not afraid to put his head down and get the yards with his legs.
- No Coaching Carousel this year, I know its early but none of our coaches seem to be involved in the coaching carousel this year which I think will be HUGE going into next season. (Crossing Fingers this stays true).
- Lastly, Pitt was much improved from the beginning of the season, the defense gelled and was a force and the offense under KP showed signs of being very potent. The nice thing is we don't lose much to graduation or the NFL this season so most of the team comes back next year which will really help from a developmental standpoint. I also believe we need to take a little solace in the fact that we let 2 - 3 games get away. We captured defeat from the jaws of victory against both VT and UNC and we decided not to play the second half of the NC State game which was frustrating.

- Lets face it for much of the season our run game underachieved. If we can't run the ball everything else really doesn't matter dress up the offense with all the motion and misdirection and screens you want every good offense needs to be able to line up and run the ball and we couldn't do that this season.
- There were times this season we just weren't competitive last season every game was close and we let some games get away this year there were times the team just didn't come to play at all and it seemed like the other team won before they got off the bus.
- Lets face it, this has been beaten to death. Narduzzi knows it the media knows it, the fans know it. The QB situation was drastically mishandled this year and it probably cost us at least 2 games. IMO we beat both VT and UNC if KP plays the whole game.
Thoughts:
- I think we let a few games get away so IMO the record we have isn't completely indicative of the team we have coming back for next season.
- I think O'neill and Henderson stay, but Whitehead goes which is good and bad it's good because O'neill and Henderson are good players it's bad because I would love 2 more spots in this recruiting class.
- Unlike a lot of people I like the recruiting class we have so far sure there aren't a lot of flashy playmakers but these kids are all tough gritty football players. In this class we are definitely getting better along the lines and adding to our LB depth. Patti looks like a playmaker, and I think we still sign 1-2 more guys I think we need a RB and OT.
