As the season begins to wind down, it starts to become clear what players are expected to enter the portal. Here are some guys I think Pitt should pursue based on names I've heard will be entering:
Adrian Wooley- G Kennesaw State
The player expected to enter the portal that I want the most. Averages 18/5/4 as a true freshman on 51% from the field, and 40% from 3 (5 Att Per Game). Expect him to stay in the south, probably heading SEC but this kid is uber talented and I would hand him a blank check if I ran a P5 team.
Darren Buchanen- F George Washington
Visited Pitt back in 2021 but ultimately was not considered a take by this staff. Averaged double digits past 2 years. 2 to play. Don't hate as Zack replacement but 3pt is iffy at best
Chris Bell- F Syracuse
Likely to be a mass exodus from Cuse. Bell just dropped 23 (7 threes) on Pitt. Shot 42% from deep last season (6 Attempts)
Seth Trimble - G UNC
Solid player. Entered portal last year before returning to UNC. Not sure if Pitt can afford, but worth a look.
Simeon Cottle - G Kennesaw State
Been watching him since he was a Soph at Tri-Cities High School. Really great playmaking guard. Potential Lowe replacement if necessary
Major Freeman- G Siena
Not ultra familiar with this one but he averages 14 on solid shooting splits.
Caleb Foster- G Duke
Highly regarded 5 star out of high school and considered by many as the best shooter in '23 class has fell out of rotation at Duke for the most part. From NC and I think would be a really good fit here.
Lamar Wilkerson- G Sam Houston
Wilkerson has been outstanding for SHSU this year averaging 19.7 on 47%. Scored 15 on Pitt in December.
Taylor Bol Bowen - F FSU
Averaging 9 and 6 as a sophomore. Went from 25% to 40% from 3.
That's all I have for the moment. Again these are mostly educated guesses on portal entries and just guys I'd like to see potentially. As more names start to pop up as potential entries I may update.
