Pitt had an open practice window today, here are a few notables.
-- As mentioned earlier, Pitt is wearing throwbacks this week for the Va Tech game at Heinz Field. The yellow helmets were on at practice today. I guess that's why they had to do a Tuesday reveal instead of a Friday reveal.
-- The starters or guys that see game action were in shells (shoulder pads and helmets and shorts). The rest of the team was wearing full pads. Not sure what's the purpose of that, but it would probably just to save their legs a bit since it's late in the year.
-- Qadree Ollison was practicing for whatever that's worth. He was doing some RB drills and he was in his usual spot on the field goal unit.
-- V'lique Carter was working with the receivers on Tuesday, and Kevin Sherman was trying to coach him up a good bit. Pitt either has 3 games left or as many as 5 (ACC title and a bowl) and he has already been used in two games. So it'll be interesting what happens with him this week.
-- Pitt still has Salahuddin for one game should they choose to use him. If Ollison can't go, you have to wonder if he gets another game. I think that's why they are sort of saving him for one more game if Ollison and/or Hall get hurt. With Ollison's nagging hamstring injury, I expect to see him at least one more time this year.
-- Devin Danielson was in a shell, suggesting he's likely going to be playing again on Saturday. I will say, he's a pretty big dude. He doesn't exactly look like a freshman, as he was standing next to Amir Watts he was bigger and taller. Watts is a good player and has been seeing action for three years now, but it was impressive to see Danielson was just a bigger guy all the way around.
-- I noticed Therran Coleman was working with the safeties and Cory Sanders today. He's worked at both positions throughout the year, I guess as a nickel he sort of has to have some responsibilities from both spots.
-- As far as next door goes, sounds like there's a lot of national media anticipating Bell arriving today. I don't actually think that's going to happen, but ESPN ect. is on Le'veon watch if you are into that sort of thing.
