The team was inside for their Tuesday morning practice. We should be talking to a few players after they are done and a few coaches as well.
-- The starting offense was about what you would expect. Pickett, Ollison, Aston, Jacques-Louis, Araujo-Lopes, Butler-Jenkins (The hyphens!!!), along with Millin, Dintino, Morrissey, Herndon, Bookser. We only see saw a brief session, but that was the main group. Obviously Ffrench and Mack are starters as well and were right there.
-- Since we are on holder watch, Kellen McAlone and Jake Scarton were working with Alex Kessman. Scarton has a giant cast on his arm, so I would think the next few days will say a lot about him. If the recovery goes all according to plan he should have a chance to play Saturday. As silly as it sounds, but Pitt probably needs him after the debacle during the Penn State game.
-- From an injury standpoint, everyone seemed alright. Rimoni Dorsey was the only player I saw not actively participating in most drills.
-- Paris Ford was out there. I don't think he looked 100% to me. He was getting his wrist taped up at one point during a drill and he was hanging towards the back of the line during drills and the coaches weren't pushing him. Am I reading too much into it? No clue, but I don't think he's 100%. Is that the reason he didn't play on Saturday? I have no idea. He played a good bit against Albany so take it for what you will. I'll see if I can dig up more since that seems to be a big topic right now, but that's what I took from today.
-- Randy Bates seemed active with the defensive backs when I was there. I think the corner position has shown some ability, but there's a lot of problems right now at safety and he seems to be taking an interest in the position. Georgia Tech won't present the same passing threat as Penn State, but the safeties have a pretty important role and need to step up and stop the run.
