Pray for Damar

Truly a sad situation. Hopefully he is able to survive this incident. Very scary to watch, can't imagine what it was like for the players on the field. Horrible.

I’m heart broken, football is great but this isn’t worth it,this young man has been through so much

Holy cow. I just turned it on. What happened? Was it football related or did he just collapse?
There was a collision. But mild by “huge hit” standards. He got up immediately then collapsed immediately. And not a brace yourself slow on the way down. Straight fall to the ground.

Not a doctor, but it looked like a heart attack or something? The hit wasn't some crazy hard devastating hit. It didn't look like he hit his head or neck at all, they are saying maybe he took a hit ot his chest from the other guy or the ground?

I saw it once which was one too many. But it did appear to me he did get hit in the chest on the tackle.

It kind of did didn’t it? Scary...

Sounds like this dude was fired by ESPN shortly after this moronic tasteless tweet.

I know I'm biased but when kids stay home, I really think they have pretty special character. And you see that a higher percentage of these kids make the NFL than the ones who leave the state. Hamlin, Boyd, Jackson, Donald, even guys who didnt make it from that era like Tipton.....seem like unbelievable people. Heck, some of those guys including Damar were doing free camps and kickball fundraisers this summer in Pgh. They dont need to do that.

Turned out it was cardiac arrest. Hopefully he was revived quick enough so that Oxygen wasn't cut off from the brain for too long? He could fully recover, let's hope and pray.

Promising update:

Good news, thanks for the update.

Damar was just such a loyal Pitt guy, it is still mind numbing to think this happened to him. Someone with far better skills than me should string together some of his highlights for the PittWire site or even for rivals.

I’ve been distracted the last few days waiting for good news. I hope the good news from this morning quickly becomes really good news with him on his way to recovery.

Damar is short for MIRACLE- extremely thankful to the doctors, nurses, athletic trainers, and EMT respondents for keeping him alive!!

Seeing mentions this morning on twitter, apparently being reported from a Bills teammate, that Damar is awake this morning and doing better. I hope we get an official report soon verifying it.

Also seeing a tweet from the Bills that he is neurologically intact and his lungs are healing .

Can we take it that "neurologically intact" means that he is out of the woods as far as brain damage is concerned?

I hope this is true. I have been so worried these last few days like he's a family member. I have probably googled this hundreds of times hoping for a good update.

Same.

As far as his neurological status, it sounds like he’s been able to squeeze family members hands when prompted (based on what his agent said). I’m sure there is a chance there could still be some level of impairment. But at this point it at least looks like he’s gotten over the most critical hurdles.

Yea, there still can be some level of impairment but if he can get back to having a somewhat normal life, that would be unbelievable. I keep picturing him on the field being honored at Acrisure next year.
