Prediction: Heron decommits tomorrow-another dagger

this Durand news is more staggering than the suspension

nothing other than our staggering bad luck. Just read on zeise that its a transfer. Durand's middle name probably isn't loyal.

I don't buy into bad luck. And people start too many unsubstantiated Heron threads that he won't be here. If he reads the board, it could end up being self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't believe in bad luck either kiwi but its unreal the stuff we pitt fans suffer through

Chris Jones and Cam Johnson next year? We will be begging for Cam Wright

I don't believe in luck. I have known sad sacks though who ruin their own lives by being gloomy all the time. people like that never succeed. Being optimistic and hard work are the keys to success. Being a sorry for yourself mope gets you nowhere.

Kiwi is 100% on the money. Positive attitudes breed success. Negative attitudes breed failure. Either attitude can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pick your elixir or pick your poison! The choice is entirely yours.

Because its the pessimistic and negative attitudes of the fans that caused the entire 2011 recruiting class to go bust.

You be happy. I'll just call what I see.

And? How does the 2011 class have anything to do with Heron. Another sad sack.

Because Pitt is the only school with terrible luck. Try OK State.

I see a guy who apparently thinks his optiming can change Pitt's fortunes.

That, or a guy who just wanted to tangentially hop on a high horse about hard work.

Which is more accurate?

Sorry to disagree, but I will never ever be begging for Cam Wright at the 2 guard. If we can't somehow find a SG who is better then Cam, maybe we should just drop down to D2.

Cruzer

I applaud Kiwi for not being a typical Pitt fan. But if most people here would rather sit around and hope for Heron to decommit so they can come here and bray like idiots, more power to them.

I prefer not to sit around and wait for bad stuff to happen.

Nor is my self worth tied to the performance of any sports figure or team, which appears to be a common thread amongst mopes.

Never said I hoped for Heron to decommit. Not sure how that straw man got started. I'm just trying to understand the link between optimism and Pitt basketball success. If there really is a link, I'll try harder to overlook all the personnel blunders.

Ummmm....read the thread title. that is what I responded to. Then you went off on some unrelated tangent of 2011 recruiting. Turn over any stone to mope around I guess.

What's with all this mope hope nonsense? Who's hoping and who's moping, can you tell me?

In other news, Pitt hoops is on a down trend. That's the observation many have made. The OP was pointing that out.

No, he was predicting a commit would de commit, entirely unrelated. We beat a higher seed in March last year, while not very meaningful to me it was to some (it was an important metric to mopey folks). So a one year down trend means a future commit will decommit? Pretty mopey if you ask me.

Oh, you took the OP literally. No he was using sarcasm to express dismay. But I see now why you felt the need to explain the virtues of hope and hard work to us. Still don't see how it's connected to Pitt hoops suceess, but anyway..

Who said it was, Mr. Strawman? I was commenting on the general outlook of folks who find the need to constantly suck on their big toe. But I recognize it takes all sorts. I am sorry you find hope and hard work objectionable. There is a core of like ten guys on here who take the negative spin on everything, even creating things that haven't happened to mope about. Fine, just commented that this personality type tends to be less successful in general, and can lead to self fulfilling prophecy. How many successful people do you know who are mopes?

If one life can be improved, my effort will not have been in vain. Perhaps even you? There is always hope. keep your chin up, buddy!

And if future Pitt hoops success is your only concern, how does making negative posts about negative things that have not happened achieve that end?

kiwi-I was laughing to keep from crying. my post wasn't meant to be taken literally. that pitt guy is right about my original intent. this board should take itself less seriously/

Let the guy vent. That's all I'm saying. Your inability to let the OP off with a mopey post says more about your confidence in the Pitt program than anything else.

kiwi-go check the premium board. there are at least 10 threads more apoplectic than mine.

Premium mopiness. Must be even better!

What an odd conclusion to draw ThatPittGuy. But at least I notice you guys. You should thank me for noticing you.

Great day for plenty of mopes.
You know, I was in the JIG crowd for the longest time. Still think he's the best guy Pitt could hope to have at the helm.

But, I no longer think he can take us to the mountain top. That's OK. That's the reality for most teams. Losing MH isn't a reason to fire him on the spot.

What you're doing right now is projecting all of your inner angst onto me. You're crumbling inside as the same realization I've already made becomes clearer to you. Instead of directly dealing with your grief, you're lashing out others who are cycling through their disappointment by posting about it.

Sarcasm or not, the OP actually made a pretty timely call and I thought it might be good for a laugh to bring it up again.

Gotta be able to laugh at this mess.

I don't think he is the only option. I don't think Pitt without him will necessarily fall down. They could. But then again it could get better too.

It is funny, in fact hilarious based on the post and the timing. But honestly, you all knew this was going to happen. And anyone think Manigault is a lock next year? He blows up......and he is gone too.

Jamie, Brandin, Bill......Smoke on the Water.....are not proven recruiters.

Well I was only. 3 days off and it's either mope and go postal with this mess
We couldn't keep a walk on at this point

I have no grief or angst.

If Dixon is fired today, it REALLY won't matter to me. If Pitt goes back to being the bottom-feeder it was for 90% of our history..likewise, won't bother me.

I simply won't watch as much.

Probably. And so?

Is this just catharsis or people interested in making big changes?

I live in a world where I identify and solve problems across our department and several hospitals.
When people just want to complain- but don't want to change the core issues underlying the issues...I have no tolerance for it.

Same here. Advocate big changes..or simply admit it makes you feel better (catharsis)..to write about it anonymously online because you're emotional about it.

Then offer us a solution to Pitt's problems.

So far, all you've done is claim yourself to be emotionally detached from Pitt and spend several posts telling us you have better things to do.

I don't see a problem right now with Pitt.
We've got 3 openings- which we can hopefully fill one or two by next season with useful players.

We've got 2 years to worry about filling Robinson's scholarship and whatever other openings.

We all knew this was coming but it's still stunning...maybe bc it's on the heels of the Durand debacle
