Good impression so far. Seems like a genuine guy and it's good to know what Lyke and Gallagher are powerful advocates for the university.

I'm sold. I would expect that a good number of the players who got their release stay with Pitt. Not hard to see why he is such a good recruiter. If he's not being sincere he is one hell of an actor.
Talking about winning the press conference...he's owning it. Very impressive speaker, very personable, and very real. I can see why recruits take to him.

Just an off the cuff remark. He was recounting how Tomlin called to congratulate him on the job. He said he thought it was a prank call from Scheyer, and commented something like "I think you all [the media in the room] had him coming here"
Nobody knows how successful he’ll be but he’s impressive. Very genuine and nothing phony or canned about him. Ended with an enormous touch of class and acknowledging Mr Groat.
I initially was thinking a double in the gap or possible triple, but moving this hire into the home run category.

Given what the hire might have been, or compared to Stallings, this is a walk off home run.
He was awesome, spoke with no notes whatsoever. Very personable and it's not surprising he's an excellent recruiter.
What are the locations of the shopping malls in Pittsburgh?
And do they have any Tack Shops nearby? For you city people Tack shops are places where you can purchase things and apparell related to horses.

what a great story teller. not one thing was read from a note...I'm sure he came in prepared and had a good idea what he wanted to say, but not one line "felt" scripted.
I don't know that much about Hurley and I may regret saying this, but I'm glad he turned us down because I'd rather have Capel after what I just saw.
Handled it very well. The shout out to Dick Groat was great. Doesn't believe he is a great recruiter but a great father. I like this guy.
Couldn't agree more. Hurley may be successful at UConn, and he may have been successful at Pitt too, but I feel way more confident in Capel's chances to be successful at Pitt than Hurley.
He's going to get talent here. I don't see that being a problem from now on.

how it's supposed to be done. What really impressed me is that the guy wants to be here! Become involved in the community and raise his kids here. Not the previous carpetbagger who's family never came with him.

Couldn't have been more different from two years ago. Great job by Heather and Coach Capel. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
As others have said, I think he learned about some of the wrongs of Stallings and made sure to point out that he AND his family are here to be at Pitt and not just to take the next job. You can never be sure, but it sure sounds like it is either Pitt or Duke, if it is ever offered, for him and not like he will be looking to trade up anywhere that will write him a bigger check.
