hats off to the obvious pitt fan in canary yellow corvette-with the vanity plate "pitt 13-9". gollee gosh that's neato.

has it ever been discussed, but what was the most significant football score for pitt football. gotta to be the day pitt climbed into #1 slot after mich. I believe lost. I was at the game when during the game against ???(maybe navy) and the stadium roared in unison when the number one team lost-and pitt became the next number one choice. number two gotta be the pitt 13-9 score over hoopies as the ripple affect was mighty, beginng with then, hoopies head coach richrod leaving (home) for Michigan .this in turn, set off such an increditable chain of events.

BTW, HBO is rerunning past episodes of "curb your enthusiasm' .doesn't hold up- but better than all the crap on terrestrial TV.

Top 3 would be the 13-9 Backyard Brawl, 12-0 Penn State, and the '76 championship game Sugar Bowl.

12-0 wasn't as monumental but in hindsight was pretty great because it was the final meeting with the old delusional bitter Paterno...who trashed the series out of spite only...it's taken years for some to realize that garbage he spewed as reasoning was nonsense...

Agree that it wasn't a big game, but at the time it didn't look like we would ever play them again.

0-0

Pitt-Fordham

The most famous game Pitt ever played.

Of course, most of you have no clue........

I was at that game! Bought my tickets off of Stubhub and took the jumbo jet up to NYC. Took this video on my iPhone1. LOL.

I never realised that they played three consecutive 0-0 ties. The world has changed much since 1937.

I was also at that game (with a pretty young girl I might add). Pitt was playing Army and Tony Dorsett got hurt but came back with an air cast on his elbow and gained over 200. What a game and what a day.

1918
Cleveland Naval Reserves (a military all-star team of former college football players) 10
Pitt 9

One of the dirtiest games ever played. The Cleveland boys bullied the refs (who were hand-picked by them and there was a controversy even before the game as Pitt wanted to bring its own refs who at least were all experienced and unbiased college referees, the CNR refs were a bunch of inexperienced guys they knew they could push around and that's what they did) and got a bunch of penalties against them reversed, the 2nd quarter was stopped 5 minutes early as Pitt was about to score, the 4th quarter went on FOREVER (some reports claimed the 4th quarter went on for 35 minutes of game clock) until CNR finally took the lead 10-9 and the game ended shortly thereafter.

Only game Pitt lost from 1915-1918 and it was one of the games that ended college teams playing "all-star" or other non-college teams on their schedule. For years Pitt refused to list the game as a loss on their official records.

re: Curb Your Enthusiasm
That's basically my life except Larry has way more money.
Odds are like 5:2 I have a Tit Mouse incident in the presence of my grandmother at Thanksgiving dinner.

12 - 0 was great because we knew we would not be playing them again at that time. If they weren’t on our schedule the topics regarding them would be a fraction of what they are. Rivalries are the ultimate for fanatics.

Does anyone remember the Ped state game the year of the National Championship? I think it was 7-7 at the half and they pretty well stopped Tony D. In the second half Johnny Majors (when he was the best coach in the country) moved Dorsett from the veer into a fullback position and he tore up the Ped defense. I think the final was 24-7. How about the Georgia bowl game when Marino threw a 4th quarter 4th down touchdown pass to John Brown over the middle.

I don't know about that but I do know he won't be able to park it anywhere near Morgantown without it being set on fire with that kind of License Plate?

I wish we could do that for the 2012 Notre Dame game. Personally when I speak of that game I tell people Pitt won, even people who know what the "official" final score was.
