Trump is crushing records for numbers of executive orders signed as he continues to try to make the government an autocracy. Not just big government. Massive government. Government control over everything in your life. There's even an executive order for shower heads. In some ways, Democrats have to be licking their chops because Trump has provided the road map for government control over everything and there's things they can now do that didn't attempt to in the past.

I'll give you an example. Candace Owens said she is rooting for Harvard because Trump is attacking free speech and she is afraid if Dems get in, they will go overboard with their own attacks on free speech including against her.

Here's another: If a Dem wins in 2029, he will likely mandate that Space X, Tesla, and other government contractors as well as all universities who receive federal funds and all school districts have DEI programs. Mandate that transgenders be allowed to play. Oh, some school in deep red WV or Mississippi won't let a transgender play? No federal funding. Space X won't install a closely-monitored DEI program, no contracts for you.

I'm not saying any of this is right but Trump has gone way too far with executive power overreach and had made himself historically unpopular in doing so.

I saw a post of potential "Project 2029" ideas

- taxing mega churches as political entities

- banning states with right to work laws (anti-union) from getting federal funding

- mandatory DEI for schools and contractors

- mandatory pro-transgender compliance

This is why I'm actually pretty middle of the road. One of the laws of physics is that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I believe the same can be said for politics.

Yeah, Trump is pushing the envelope on a number of things. Don't forget that sometimes he just stirs the pot to agitate. Maybe he has a plan. But, the Dems already went down this road. Trump is just riding the shoulders more.

His executive overreach is opening the door for Dems to over-correct even more. I dont think most people realize this. How are West Virginians going to feel when males sweep the 2029 state track and fields female championships?

Biden gave false hope of student loan forgiveness, so Trump gets to send random people to a gulag in El Salvador. Fair is fair. MAGA.

Better than Dems will when they lose every election in the State.

I mean, we get your point, but you have to learn a little subtlety when you wag your finger. Just a tad over the top. 😉

Dems don't win statewide elections in those states. I get that Manchin did but he wasn't really a Democrat and there won't be another Dem elected statewide in WV fir generations.

I agree. The tides turn both ways. Ending the filibuster was great, until it wasn’t. It swings both ways. We all made it through Bush, Obama, Trump and whoever was running the country during Biden.

People getting hysterical over politics is fun to watch. The president isn’t going to change your status or lot in life.

Unless you end up locked in a foreign gulag the rest of your life because ICE makes a mistake.

They won't dare go for the gold ring as you speculated here, but you're right about each side escalating. It's not good.

Let's hope that there is a free and fair election in 2028. Trump's handlers have Project 2025 rolling....and they embrace Red Caesarism.

Rumor has it they are planning the most racist elections of all time, featuring valid ID, paper ballots, and a holiday to celebrate.

Nothing says 'free and fair' like the image above
