Altoona , Pa
My handle is Crazy Altoona Pitt Fan, and you have to be crazy to run around our area with Pitt gear on all the time, but I do it to piss them off. All I want is a win on Saturday, so I can come home and put the Pitt flag up the flag pole like I did 2 years ago. Put the blue and white to bed. HTP. BEAT PEAD STATE

Don't worry, you're not alone.

But the Pitt flag should be up regardless. Win or lose, Pitt isn't the program or school that should feel any shame.

I always admired PITT over PSU academically because the selection is more strict and your highly rated academic programs tend to be more impactful, instead of something like geology, you folks are curing diseases.

Hence why I don’t understand the PITT hate in central PA, because if medical situations become complicated, many are going to PITT for treatment.

The penn state fans in this area only know blue and white and they can do no wrong, and all you hear is PITT when you are out with your Pitt gear on. A win will keep them quiet for another year HTP

I enjoy reminding UPMC Altoona employees who are “big Penn State fans” that they work for Pitt.

They don't technically work for the University of Pittsburgh (or their benefits would be much better), but for a Pitt spin-off organization whose articles of incorporation specifically states that it exists to support the University of Pittsburgh, which was to a tune of approximately $400 million last fiscal year. The two are inextricably intertwined, with Pitt appointing a third of the UPMC board. Heck, the university even owns the trademark to "UPMC". But all that medical construction and expanded services in and around Altoona turning it into a regional medical hub, yeah, that's thanks to Pitt's medical center.

My kid is eligible for a discount on Pitt tuition so I’m pleased with whatever the relationship is.

Wait a minute..........Ped st fans give u a hard time wearing Pitt gear around them. No way!

They used to have a discount for Pitt football season tickets, but I don't know if that is still in effect or if that applies to all the hospitals.

What is the tuition discount for UPMC employees' children at Pitt? Full tuition? Partial?

I know Pitt employees get free tuition for their kids, or at least they did when my Dad worked there :)

Pitt is 100% to Pitt. UPMC I think it is up to 50%, but capped at either $5K or $6K a year.

I don't know if these things apply to employees of UPMC Pinnacle or UPMC Susquehanna.

I tell you what though, that gets the regional campuses down to the same or less than the price of PSSHE schools. I would be bombarding those suburban and regional hospitals with promotional materials if I was UPJ, UPG, UPB, and UPT because that is a great deal to, say, get an engineering or nursing degree at UPJ, which are great programs.

Yeah the only thing that would help Altoona upmc would be to get ride of a lot of the doctors that were Altoona hospital employees and send some Pittsburgh doctors from Pitts upmc And send them to Altoona then it would be a real upmc hospital
