PSU & "negative recruiting"

How much longer are we going to have to hear about this crap?
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
Just wait until they see some "negative coaching" again this season from Jimbo.
 
What is interesting is despite all the negative recruiting that they claim is going on, they are recruiting rather well at this point. What I don't understand and have to question is the intelligence of the kids and the parent(s) that are committing. They are taking a huge leap of faith committing to a coach who has no extension and is under fire to perform this season and possibly next. Within 2 years possibly just one, these kids could be looking at a whole new regime in place and their favorite used car salesman could be patrolling the sideline at some division 3 school. The most likely outcome is Ped St. wins 7 or maybe 8 and they keep him one more year, but much like last year the recruits realize that he can't coach and that they will never be playing meaningful post-season football as long as he is the head man, so they decommit late and wind up at better football schools.

He's actually cheesed off at ND for yanking a ton of kids that would normally be PSU locks this year but loves to hate on Michigan and OSU too.

Keep in mind that some kids see PSU as a lock if they get an offer. Just how it goes for some schools. Kid's Dad has always been a PSU guy or something. Doesn't matter who the coach is for some of them.

Negative recruiting happens every day across the country. Jimmy Franks crying about it just worsens it! The B1G elite just laugh at him! I am so glad he is the HC in crappy valley!

BTW.....they have always recruited well in NJ and EPA and will continue to do so.

This is the same guy that wept about his verbals flipping, questioning their character. After taking the Ped State job and bringing Vanderbilt verbals with him.

Hypocritical sleezeball.

I can credit and admire that Penn State Alumni Association is one of the biggest Worldwide that contributes to the University and was helped built by Joe Paterno Wins and they are still standing proud without the Worst Scandal in Football History Shaming Penn State's Name and so be it! :oops:

Quite frankly, if having the 409 Record Wins with the Football Program Scandal is something most universities and Programs would turn down, in my opinion.:confused:

There is no upside in that at all with Voices drowning out any Cheers! Worldwide Alumni with that Worst Football Scandal is not that kind of Accomplishment that brings Pride, in the Penn State Way or Anyway for that matter! :eek:

I am proud of Smaller Pitt Alumni Association that has produced many All Americans, NCS, and Hall Of Famers without the Scandal that Never Shamed Pitt name on that magnitude!

Penn State has made Reforms and so they can sin no more! ;)

I don't want to create another post about it...but can somebody explain to me what unrivaled means and why it would be used as a battle cry?

Does it mean that they have no rival and just play games against whomever is on their schedule?

I kind of take it to mean that they are arrogantly claiming they are better than everyone else. Should sting a little as a Pitt fan since they chose to roll that slogan out the year they continue the rivalry. Can't mean that they're just better at football than everyone because that hasn't been true for a long time.

If you're curious, BWI has been listing reasons why playing Pitt is "stupid", "proves nothing", and is just a "waste of time".

Of course Ped St fans would want to downplay playing PITT! They outnumber us by a long shot and are supposed to dominate the state yet Temple beat them last year and Pitt is favored to beat them in a few weeks. Deep down they want to dominate in the games and not only recruiting & attendance!

1. I think Franklin has been able to sell himself and any Program where he works and just has that unique style of Recruiting everywhere he has gone. It is Franklin's Strength but Penn State Recruiting Program is strong as well.

2. Penn State 2012 Reforms also sells Penn State University showing they are now under Institutional Control and Compliance's so another Scandal cannot happen again. It pushes and shines off their Tutoring, Charitable Work, and actually Athletic Integrity Code of Conduct that did not exists under Paterno Era, it was PR not Reality. Now it is reality without PR. Why I compliment the University on admitting and having to reform PSU Athletics.

3. The difference comes in Coaching. Paterno Players all spoke how great and nice he was when he was recruiting them. They talked about how they could not believe how nice he was, but once they signed, Joe's Coaching was all Business and then they talked about how tough he was on them and demanded serious football from them. Many Players told me they called Joe "Biggy Rat" behind his back, but Joe actually used that to make better Teams by making those Players live up to their potential by great executuion in games. Joe outworked other Opposing Coaches and so did his Assistant Coaches worked just as hard on Game Prep Long and so Joe expected the same from his Players and why they were so successful on Game Day. Joe knew 4 to 6 Plays by 2 to 3 Players was the difference between Winning and Losing. He told me that personally at a Banquet once and I never forgot it and later other Top Coaches agreed with it. Many here claim Joe Knew and now Victims Voices confirm that too. But I can confirm, admire, and state that Joe Knew Football Coaching too. Joe also let Players Work Hard and when not practicing Play Hard and this caused off the field problems Joe often admitted he covered up as many Programs were doing in that Era. Joe knew if Players that practiced and played not just one week but for years together were needed to form good solid Team, and why he said he defended and would not allow Judicial Affairs, University Policies, and Legal Compliance's come before his Coaching. This was NCAA Lack of Institutional Control and Franklin is under that now just like O'Brien was, but Joe got bigger than PSU and this led to Shaming Penn State Name. I am not talking about Sandusky whatsoever here. I am talking about Reforms that PSU was not obeying under Joe's Coaching. This what i don't admire and clearly was a competitive edge for Joe's Coaching that PSU Cultists can't understand, acknowledge nor accept, but that is on them.

4. I don't see that with Franklin. I see better Recruits and Talent and less Off Field Problems due to 2012 Reforms, and Franklin has complained about them being too onerous at times, But that is the way its going to be at Penn State and I suspect now Franklin did not think that would impact him has much as it is doing today. So, his Coaches left and why I also suspect Franklin may not work out after all unless he wins 8 to 9 games this year. On the other hand, where sometimes great Coaches need time to cahnge their staffs to Win better, and maybe that is happening to Franklin Coaching. So, if Moorhead-Limegrover-Pry-Banks change succeeds Franklin's Recruiting with better Coaching can succeed too, but we shall see? Meyer, Harbaugh, Dantonio, Ferentz, Fitzgerald, Alvarez-Chryst, and other Big Ten Coaches and Programs are just as competitive now all having money? Still, Franklin's Game Week Prep, Game Day Coaching, Sideline Coaching, Half-Time Adjustments are still poor based on the lsast 2 years. Yet, Franklin blames the Sanctions, OL and OC so we shall see since they gone and new coaches are at PSU, is it them or Franklin Coaching under PSU New Reforms? This is what Franklin's Extension is dependent upon and he needs that for better Recruiting for 2017 and beyond. Or he will be replaced and PSu will eat the Buyout! This 2016 Season is pivotal and can effect 2017 and 2018 as well. We shall -see?

5. Once the entire Penn State Lawsuits and Trials are gone and Trustees unite to bring together a divided Penn State. penn State is a strong Program and by hiring the right Coach can turn it all around on a dime, just like OSU did with Tressel and Meyer, and Michigan has done it with Harbaugh. A Penns Ate Coach Alumnus like Munchak or Rhule could improve PSU immediately with the 2012 Reforms and unite PSU even fater i am told from some long voices at Old Main.

6. So, 88Pitt88, you are not wrong and your post could happen and many PSU Recruits De-Commit and Players can leave even bigger than last year, if Franklin goes 5-7 or 7-6.

7. Pitt is building its Football Program like Northwestern, Wisconsin, Iowa, MSU, and TCU did and that takes longer time to establish a Program under a Great Coach that does not have all the Resources as OSU, ND, FSU, Michigan, PSU, Bama, USC and other Top Programs that have many more Resources until they Win 10 to 12 Games in most years.

OK. So 80,000 Penn State fans have bought Pitt season tickets because they are actually deep down fans of a school that did not promote the sexual abuse of young boys? That must be it, because obviously they are not rivals and Pitt fans wouldn't actually buy season tickets.
 
Let's be honest. Deep down they hate us. They hate us so bad they don't want us to know they hate us. They want to win that game on the 10th more than anything. But, reality is starting to set in for them, and they know they won't be able to live with themselves if they lose, so the easy thing to do is to downplay the game.
Also, somewhere along the lines Pitt4424 got brainwashed by them or something. Maybe they offered him a drink and it was the JoePa Aid. Haven't quite figured that one out yet.

If it's to talk about how good they are, unrivaled is not the correct word....but whatever. No talent required is another slogan where they use the wrong words...so why should any of their slogans make sense.

The Penn State Paterno Football Program was so monolithic to their Fans that they created Paterno into the same form as Messiah Deity, Mephistopheles Figue by giving them Winning in Return fro their support, minds and spirits!

Gee, it is only a Football Program, but he gave them self-worth and they needed it, and now in return they have arrogance and ignorance as their Legacy, and sadly many of them don't even know it.

One gains Self-Worth from their own deeds not watching others do it on the Grid Iron, it is just a sport and game, and enjoyable two watch, but when they win just because you are a fan, does not mean you won anything, but the joy to be entertained and that is enough for anybody, but not for them?

I admire their spirit but thinking it makes them better somehow I feel sorry for them more.

wow nail on head. when they lose september 10th, they will turn all their venom on franklin and it will be ugly. (not cover up child rape for 40 years ugly, but it'll be pretty bad....)

That is a fabulous post, Captain. The way the Cult attached its self-esteem and self-worth to Paterno and his football program has been one of the most bizarre aspects of the scandal. The Joebots skew heavily in the 50+ age demographic, people who were conned by a conman for 30, 40 or even 50 years.

PSU football is a midpack Big 10 program that gets routinely housed by Ohio St., so the Joebots can't tie their self-worth to winning anymore. For decades, the Joebots would claim that Paterno ran the cleanest program in America and they could tie their self-worth to "Success With Honor." Since 2011, the entire country knows that "Success With Honor" was a complete fraud.

Now that the Joebots can't tie their self-worth to winning or honor anymore, all they have left is the bizarre chest-thumping over attendance. I mean, what other program in America has fans whose entire self-worth is now tied to attendance.

their negative recruiting spill was about deflection. nothing wrong with their recruiting, they picked up the best wr in Indiana yesterday. as a matter of fact, they have picked up several recruits since the complaining has started.

their problem, they have a glorified recruiter posing as a head coach.

Great call Vegas! He is the classic used car salesman. Perfect for getting down to the kids level and telling them exactly want they want to hear. When it comes to coaching he is a complete train wreck. Both his coordinators saw this and ran the hell out for the same positions elsewhere. Now he is tying his fortunes to a guy who ran the offense at Fordham and a young D coordinator who was promoted because they had no real takers.
Moorhead has to be the savior starting this season or poor Milk-dud will be getting a pink slip and looking for work at a D-3 school where he belongs! They pay 4.5 mill a season for that turd. Bob Nutting would have cut him loose already for a player to be named later!
