Dunphy accuses of Chambers cheating without actually saying it.

I don't think there's any doubt that Carr and Stevens (Watkins probably but I'm not 100% convinced) were given something to go to Penn State. You dont suck as a program for as long as you do and then stroll into Philly and beat out Nova, Temple, and every big-name program for 2 kids who seemed to be a package deal. Chambers knew he needed a big-time class to sell hope to get him a few more years. Think Blue Chips. Actually, I thought Stallings would have tried this but nope.

We'll see if the FBI has anything on Chambers. Maybe, maybe not, but I can't imagine Temple's coach saying something like that without knowing something.
Chambers still couldn't turn them into a winner even with that talent, even in a severely weak Big 10 this year. A 13-5 Nebraska team not only didn't get in, they weren't mentioned as part of the bitching about the teams that didn't get in. And Chambers went .500 in that conference. If Carr goes pro, he's got no shot next year.

Carr is projected to go in the 2nd round. He would be wise to leave.

Beat out Temple? Temple sucks.

Carr was a bigger recruit, but if they really were a package deal that made it much, much easier for PSU to get them because Stevens just didn't have that many top options. Villanova was really the only one and they were very crowded on the wing. Stevens wouldn't have played, at all, as a FR at Villanova. Carr would have gotten some time, but not much.

It was really only Maryland, Iowa, Xavier, IU and us as the other P6 programs. That's not a whos who.

They were given $40k a piece. It's pretty well documented. Carr was headed to Temple. Apparently been to 100 games there and fan growing up.

Good for Dunphy.

Well documented where?

This wouldn't be part of an FBI investigation because my guess its simply a fanboy booster payment. Probably Lubrano or somebody like that. I'm not even sure if its even illegal for a booster to do that. Against NCAA rules, but illegal? Maybe can get them on tax fraud but it would never be proven?

This FBI investigation is supposed to expose "big time college programs". Why is it such a surprise such an historically awful program like penn state can fly under the radar?

Because its probably untraceable booster money. Its why you cant catch college football cheaters.

.

Seriously? Only the fifth-winningest program since Naismith first nailed up peach baskets. Now if you said DUNPHY sucks, I'd agree with you! We have no business settling for the National MEDIOCRITY Tournament. Retirement can't come soon enough. I wish there was a Heather Lyke type on Broad Street (no pun intended) to force the matter.

No one cares about much of that. No offense to you, but the same applies to Pitt's WW1 football NCs. There was some success under Chaney, but Temple just doesn't move the needle anymore. It isn't a top 50 (probably not top 75, but some you could argue about) program and probably never will be again.

As I said, it's the current coach who "sucks".

I have to disagree about Dunphy. He's not among college elite, but IMO he
doesn't "suck." They did very well in the A10. Conference switch to the
American did not help. He's been to the NCAA a number of times, also the
NIT several times. Has a winning % of 60+%.
Just my opinion

The American is a tougher league than it's given credit for, but it's not the ACC or Big East, either. Dunphy's record in the American is 46-44. That's mediocre. The time has come for him to step down.

It'd be easy if they wrote a check. Some of these clowns might have deposited the cash.

Pickles Kennedy, Guy Rogers and Bruce Drysdale. None still active.

No, it just is a have not program. I don't mean that offensively, but it just isn't a big time program and won't be again. You've got probably all the P5 programs ahead of them and then a number of mid majors they are behind.

What a FRANtastic coaching performance we saw tonight. I can't remember a basketball loss to Pennsylvania A&M in my lifetime. Hopefully this was Custer's last stand. Is there any doubt that Dunphy must go?

I only watched part of the 4th quarter of that game tonight. And I know dunphy did pretty well while at penn. But wow did temple look awful. It really got me wondering what the hell the NIT was thinking to invite a temple team just 2 games above .500. No offense to your alma mater, but there were much more deserving schools out there.

Temple had control of the game for 35 minutes, and then . . . well, you tuned in just in time to witness one of the most monumental choke jobs I've ever seen. (Hey, I'm loyal, but I can't describe THAT any other way.)

Yeah I was mostly watching the pens and the first four. I flicked it on and temple leading a low scoring game, I didn't think psu was playing well enough to come back. Maybe not fair to judge on one play, but I was just mesmerized when the temple kid missed two free throws, got the rebound on the second, and then missed a layup.

Tony Carr only made one basket. He really struggled. Should be a fun matchup when they play at ND in the 2nd round. I'm sure Brey will work over Chambers with ease. That's a coaching mismatch if I've ever seen.

Well apparently you're a Temple grad and want to see a change; I can understand that.
It's too bad this has happened to Dunphy late in his career. Living in the Philly area
but not a Temple grad, I have no no emotional ties. It seems that you're right and it might be
time for him to go. However, I stand by my original statement, he doesn't "suck." He's
had a pretty good run over the years at Penn and at Temple. It'll be interesting to see if
he hangs it up or tries to improve the program.
