With the news of Lamont Wade transferring yesterday, i just googled searched it and find out that PSU is losing 5 Juniors to the draft, about 8 transfers and a dozen other key senior contributors. That's a ton of talent to replace, and Pitt will be bringing back a ton of depth (especially on defense). I mean PSU, without McSorely, Sanders, Johnson and 2 of their best linemen, is going to suck on offense, probs like us these past 2 years while we will for surely be better (a lot of that is riding on Pickett and new OC). Looking forward to the game again and getting revenge after last years embarrassment.

Pitt has a 45-point gap to close. The Peddo graduations and transfers aren't as important to closing that differential as it is for Pitt to get its head out of its ass and find an offensive identity.

James has recruited like he is Urban.

I don't think the dropoff from Sanders to Slade and the rest of the backfield is that significant if looking at production potential had he stayed. Likewise, the WR position is fine to make up for Johnson....especially the 2018 version of his game which was wildly inconsistent.

OL turnover is just a reality. It's rare to get 4 or 5 starters back, so PSU with 3/5 returning is still in ok shape there. Bates and McGovern played a ton of football though (each a 3 year starter) and there is no substitute for that type of experience.

It's really about the QB and whether or not Stevens (or Clifford if he snatches the start away from Stevens) can perform at a level closer to McSorely. That's a huge wildcard, but to be honest, Trace was off for most of this year. Whether it was the WR struggles in September or his eventual injury that plagued his 2nd half, his "A" game was rarely in order. If looking for offense to perform at a 2018 level (ie, good but not great), I don't think that's some huge reach for next year in spite of the losses. The QB can elevate it with their play.

I think u really just have to throw out the game tape of last years game and forget about it.. We played pretty evenly the whole game with predatorU it was just a comedy of errors and Pitt being Pitt that made the score the way it was.. Next year I know stubbornduzzi won't but if I'm him Pickett has an extremely short leash next year.. If he starts stinking it up again early in the year after the UCF game pull the plug

The losses on their offensive line will be most impactful in our game against them. McSorley and their receivers were pretty average to bad in that game, but they ran it down our throat for most of the game. If we stop their run game I can see us beating them in a low scoring game.

The final score showed a huge point difference but I don't think it was a team talent 45 pt difference.

After a close first half PITT got off to a terrible start in the second half, never got things squared away, and the game went from bad to really bad.

It'll be a close one next year!

Go PITT & CSU Rams!

Agree. I wish we could have played them again towards the end of the season this year. Would have been a close game (assuming Pitt didn't repeat the worst performance I have ever seen. Just pathetic effort)

It's about darn time we move on from Ped State. I nominate Preditor U as it's replacement.

poor special teams and PSu adjusting to stop the run at halftime are what did it. Bad call on 4th and goal also didn't help things. it just snowballed in the second half

We gave up 211.

We had 245 yards rushing.

Neither team could pass the ball, and if our punter could have held onto the ball, we probably still lose, but about 14-6. Pickett looked awful that game

Our 14 penalties for 120 yards vs their 4 penalties (2 in the 4th quarter) was also a killer for us. We were constantly in long distance on offense which nullified our run game.

The rain that day sucked. I hope for sunnier weather at Happy Valley. I'm seriously thinking of trading the behind bench seats back to club house seats. I must be getting old because I hated the weather for most of our games

Franklin is learning from the best Myers,Hairball and Saban. If you aren't starting after 2 or 3 years you are gone. There's another 4 or 5 star to take your place.Funny these guys transfer after their individual meetings with Jimmy last week!

You're right, of course. My point is, doing the PSU subtraction is less important to Pitt than Pitt's improvement. I'm sure the Pedds have competent kids in reserve ready to step up. Do we?

IMO McSorely as much as I disliked the kid for his Home run swing was a winner. thats hard to replace..... He extended plays with his feet. Will be interesting to see how Jimmie Franks does next year. I can assure you if they have a rough year, the wolves in happy valley will be out
