Chris,
Kaezon Pugh's position in high school was LB, which is where most schools were recruiting him. He has MLB size, being roughly the same height and weight of Wirginis and Galambos. Pugh practiced all last season at LB and wasn't moved to DE until Spring (i.e., not that long ago). But if that move ever made sense, does it still, especially since the Wirginis suspension?
When looking at the two-deeps of the DE and LB groups, there seems to be much more young talent lined up at DE than MLB. The two-deep lists five DEs, including fellow redshirt freshmen Weaver and Jones, but not Pugh. When asked what position group he felt good about, Narduzzi focused on DE, rattling off the names of a number of guys there, but not Pugh.
On the flip side, the two deep at MLB is scary. Wirginis is the only true MLB on the roster and he is serving a multiple game suspension. So, we have Brightwell playing out of position.
Seeing all of this coming (and presumably knowing the Wirginis suspension was coming), why do you think the staff stuck with Pugh's move to DE? Any chance at all they rethink that?
