Chris has maintained contact with Emmett Morehead of late and in an article today, Morehead admitted he is close to committing and more less said Pitt is his No. 1 option. He seems like a strong candidate to be Pitt's QB in this class.
I also think there are two others to watch, and I think the other two names to watch are a pair of Texas natives. Hampton Fay is a big name to keep in mind. We talked to Fay in February after Pitt offered. “I’ve been in contact with Coach Whip for over a couple of months,” Fay told Panther-Lair.com. “He came up and visited during the spring and we got to talking and just developing a relationship. Recently he called me on the phone and we had a good talk and he offered me.” That quote was from February as mentioned, and he put together a solid offer sheet that includes the likes of Boise State, Colorado, and Michigan State
Nate Yarnell is the other Texas QB to keep in mind. We talked to Yarnell in March and he had this to say: "Coach Whipple called me on the phone, so I had a conversation with him about it," Yarnell told Panther-Lair.com. "Just looking at his history with all the places he's been and all the people he's coached, I think he's a great coach and just talking to him on the phone I'm just really excited to start to build a relationship with him."
Yarnell has additional offers from Houston, Tulsa, and UAB and is drawing attention from a few other schools. Yarnell was actually a backup QB last season to a four-star Texas signee Hudson Card. He had to fill in when Card was injured and did an admirable job and won all of his starts and led his team to the playoffs.
I think those are the three main names for a QB in this class, with Chayden Peery of California also in the mix, but maybe in the background a bit.
I think one of these four QB's will be Pitt's QB in this class, but the first three names seem more likely than Peery.
