Dual Meets Against Rider, SDSU and Maryland.

10am: Dual vs Maryland
125: Babin/Marlow vs. Garvin
Garvin is a true freshman who is .500 on the year (4-4). Whoever we send out here is someone I would expect to be able to beat Garvin. PITT FAVORED
133: Vinnie vs. Brown
These two split last season. Brown has had a pretty good start to the year and based on their matches last year this really could go either way. TOSS UP
141: Santaniello vs. Lemus
Battle of two redshirt freshman. Both have started the season pretty well. This is one there is not much data on so I am going to hedge and call it a TOSS UP
149: Solomon vs. Kal Miller
Kal Miller is in his first season up at 149, he was a 141lb wrestler the last two seasons. He has had some big losing streaks as the season goes on in the past but is normally pretty good in the early dual season. He majored Cole in the dual last year, beat him at an open in January and then lost in tiebreakers at NCAAs. His brother Ethen was at 149 last year and beat Finn 7-3. I can't really find much to call this match on so it has to be a TOSS UP
157: Evans vs. Ethen Miller
Miller is another guy moving up a weight class, he is undefeated so far this season with some nice wins. Again not a ton to go off of, Evans was outmatched against Gallagher in the last dual and I hope he comes out looking to put it on Miller in this one. TOSS UP
165: Keslar vs. John Martin Best
Best has a career 17-23 record. He has solid results this season but all against lower-caliber competition. Based on his career work I expect a confident Keslar after that Sasso match to continue the positive momentum. PITT FAVORED
174: Luca vs. Branson John
John is a true freshman who is 6-4 on the year. He seems to be wrestling well but Luca should beat him and I would hope can get to his offense more than he has so far this year. PITT FAVORED
184: Heller vs. Smith
This is the match of the dual. Smith is coming down from 197 where he has had some big years but never cracked the podium. This match will be a gauge on where he stands down at 184 and also another big test for Reece's undefeated record. TOSS UP
197: Stout vs. Mielnik
Mielnik was down at 184 last year and got TF by Reece in the dual. This year he swapped with Smith and has had a string of pretty solid results. However, Mac is better than him and I would hope is able to get bonus points. PITT FAVORED
285: Pitzer vs Nevills
Nevills is very talented and has been around forever. Pitzer has been more consistent over the last few years but Nevills pushed him in last years dual in a 4-3 match. This one has to be a TOSS UP.

Pitt vs. UMD
4 Pitt Favored, 6 Toss Up, 0 UMD Favored
This is a dual we should expect to win but it really could go either way depending on how everything shakes out.

12pm dual vs. SDSU

125: #16 Babin/ NR Marlow vs #14 Jordan
Tanner Jordan has been around forever and took 8th at 125 last year. He is prone to take losses but it is always to pretty talented guys. Him and Babin have never faced but have some similar common results. If Babin is healthy and able to go this should be a great match between two hammers on top. If Babin can't go Marlow or whoever else goes at 125 may be in for a tough match. TOSS UP

133: #32 Santaniello vs #22 Cardinal
Cardinal is a returning national qualifier who appears to keep improving every year. He had a solid CKLV where he beat Dylan Ragusin and overall has a good record on the season. This will be the second tough match for Vinnie in a row and if he wants to move up in the rankings a win in these two matches would be huge. They have similar results against common opponents and if Vinnie can wrestle his best and be offensive he has a real shot. TOSS UP

141: #32 Santaniello vs NR Tagg/NR Allen
Julian Tagg is the jackrabbits 141lb starter and he made some noise at CKLV when he beat Cael Happel in his first match. He lost his next one however and injury defaulted out of the tournament. He is very hard to gauge as he has such a good win and some close losses, but also some questionable losses. He is also someone who graduated HS in 2020 and from 2021-2023 only wrestled 2 collegiate matches. Tagg is someone I think Santaniello should beat based on his potential but if he goes I would be on the edge of my seat in that one. However if Tagg is still injured and Allen goes I would expect Ant to handle him. TOSS UP

149: #28 Solomon vs NR Dupill
Dupill is 5-6 on the year with no wins against anyone of note. Solomon should be able to come out and take it to him. This day is also one where I could see Kade Brown getting a look as it is a way to use one of his dates and get him a match. However, I don't know exactly when/where they would plug him in without potentially taking a valuable match away from Finn or Evans. PITT FAVORED

157: #31 Evans vs #23 Siebrecht
Cobe Siebrecht is a 6th year Senior who has 52 career matches after a career (primarily at Iowa) riddled with injuries and gambling suspensions. In his one year as a starter for the Hawkeyes he made some noise and even had a victory over AA Will Lewan but after he got hurt towards the end of the year he never looked the same. Him and Evans only common opponent is Gallagher from tOSU but it is hard to use because it was a match from the 2022-2023 season when Evans has wrestled him far more recently. At CKLV he got a nice win over Harvard's Harrington then got pinned in his next match and MFF out. If he can't go I would expect a backup Evans beats comfortably. As it stands he is beatable and I expect Evans to come into the match looking for the W. TOSS UP

165: NR Keslar vs #12 Rhodes
Rhodes is another Iowa transfer who is coming off a CKLV where he really made some noise. He went 6-2 including a win over AA Hunter Garvin and he is 14-3 on the year with all his losses coming to guys ranked in the top 10. Keslar is coming off a great win against Sasso but to prove that wasn't just a fluke/Sasso not being 100% he will need to come out strong in this one against Rhodes and continue to put up points. SDSU FAVORED

174: #17 Augustine vs #10 DeVos
DeVos is coming off a 5th place finish last year in a season where he went 26-3. He is 4-3 on the season altogether this year. He has losses to Wask, Simma and Thompson. He is a very good wrestler and he does have much, much better results against common opponents than Luca does. However, these two seem to be trending in opposite directions and if Luca wants to fully break out and establish himself as a contender this is a spot to do it. TOSS UP

184: #11 Heller vs #8 Berge
Bennet Berge took 4th in the country as a rsFR last year. So far this year he has taken three losses, to returning national champ Keck, to stud rsFR McEnelly and a questionable one to Issac Dean from Rider at CKLV. He would end up taking third at CKLV including a dominant major over Ohio State's Shumate. He has a much more proven track record than Heller, but he is far from perfect as he even lost his first match at NCAAs last season before going on his backside run. He is a very good wreslter but if we see the best version of Reece in this one he can pull the win off. TOSS UP

197: #16 Stout vs #18 Glazier
Glazier had an amazing start to the season last year after being a long time backup for Iowa. In his first year as a starter for the Hawkeyes he went into NCAAs as a B10 finalist with his only losses coming to Aaron Brooks. However, he went 1-2 at NCAAs and transferred out to SDSU. He is now 7-3 on the year with losses to Bates and Voelker that while not bad, show he is not at the same level he was last season. This will be a tough test for Stout as Glazier is really good in neutral when at his best. I think Mac can take this one and continue to showcase how he is a legit AA contender. TOSS UP

285: #13 Pitzer vs #26 Rasmussen
Rasmussen went 16-13 and DNQ for NCAAs last season. This year he is 7-5 with his best win coming over Jordan Greer of Ohio. He will likely keep it close with Pitzer and try to give him a tough match but he has allowed a lot of points throughout his career so I think if Pitzer really opens up he can score a lot and potentially get bonus. PITT FAVORED

Overall: 2 Pitt Favored, 7 Toss Up, 1 SDSU Favored

This dual alone looks to be worth the price of admission. SDSU is ranked ahead of us both individually at most weights and as a team. It is a match that I view as winnable and if our guys come out aggressive and looking to make a statement I think they could send a eal message that this is a legit Pitt team.

2pm Dual vs Rider

125: NR Marlow vs NR Betancourt
Betancourt seems to be Rider's 125 this season. He is 0-3 on the year but all losses have come to solid opponents. He was a 141 for Rider last year who really struggled. He has bounced around schools and weights in his career. He is talented and will likely give Marlow a tough match. I can't really give either side an advantage with so much unknown. TOSS UP

133: #32 Santaniello vs NR I Don't Know
Rider does not have a single 133 with a win on the season. Whoever Vinnie sees in this match is someone he should come out and put it on. PITT FAVORED

141 #31 Santaniello vs #25 Bell
Bell is 5th year who has qualified for nationals in the past. He is 3-4 on the year and was 3-4 last year. Somehow he is still ranked above Ant despite no wins of note over these last two seasons. However he is still game and could give Ant trouble so I won't give the favor to either side here. TOSS UP

149: #28 Solomon vs #15 Alvarez
Last year Alvarez was at OKST and majored Solomon in the dual meet. He is 6-4 on the year with some good wins and all losses coming to legit guys. However, I think last year's performance from Solomon was an outlier and not a reflection on the difference in talent level between the two guys. I will say this match is a TOSS UP

157: #31 Evans vs #22 Washleski
Washleski went 30-10 last season and beat Keslar close in the dual. He is 4-2 on the year but his two losses are the only nationally ranked level guys he has faced. He has better results against common opponents than Evans but it is not big enough of a difference to call this anything other than a TOSS UP

165: NR Keslar vs NR Munguia
A former 20 match winner at Kent State Muniguia is in his second season at Rider. He is 8-4 on the year with sold wins over backups mainly or lower level starters. Based on who he has beat and lost to he seems like a wrestler right around the same level as Keslar. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out with another TOSS UP

174: #17 Augustine vs NR Wilson
Wilson is 7-4 on the season and has churned out some pretty solid performances. He has also been teched or majored by guys that Luca has either beat or is at the same level as. Luca won 13-9 in the dual last year in his first match from a layoff. I expect him to grow that margin in this one. PITT FAVORED

184: #11 Heller vs #22 Dean
Dean is 9-4 on the season. All his losses except one have been really close and he made the CKLV semis after beating AA Bennet Berge. Last year Heller beat him 1-0 in the dual. He also a 12-5 loss to Chase Kranitz on his record. This is the hardest one to gauge for me as it is possible he jumped levels since last season or the CKLV performance could have been a fluke. However he likes to keep matches close and try to get a sneaky win so I will say this is a TOSS UP

197: #16 Stout vs NR De Lange
De Lange is solid but I would expect Stout to put bonus points up against him. Stout being able to bonus these non-ranked starters consistently is huge for him. PITT FAVORED

285: #13 Pitzer vs NR French
French is a true freshman who is 2-7 on the year. Pitzer by Tech or Pin. PITT FAVORED

Overall: 4 PITT FAVORED, 6 TOSS UP, 0 RIDER FAVORED
This is another dual we should win, but could easily go the other way if a few small things go wrong. Hope we can come into this whole day looking to go 3-0

I can't find anywhere to track it, and the Broncovision site isn't working. Anyone have any ideas besides twitter?

through 6:
149 Solomon looked great with a 4-3 win
157 Evans right there with #8 in the country losses 5-4. Thought he was the better wrestler other than a sloppy td he gave up off the whistle
165: Keslar dominant 18-2 TF

if you guys can keep updated with the results, that would be greatly appreciated. I’m assuming the results above were from the match against Maryland?

priest and vin bonus guys they should bonus.
Finn loses 6-5 to Alvarez. Was close to finishing multiple times. An illegal cutback point was the difference both guys had 1 td 2 escapes

Luca wins by major.
Reece loses 8-4 in a match where he hurt his ankle early. Gave up a takedown late bc his ankle gave out and gave up an extra point after injury time in 1st

Really nice day by Dylan Evans beating that kid from Rider who won a match at NCAAs is big for him. Luca losing to DeVos stinks. That guy made the podium last year. He is legit.

Pitt should be beating South Dakota state. I know they are a good team but I’d like to think we are a better program. Handling Maryland was encouraging. Pitzer has been disappointing hopefully he is gearing up. We all know he can do with anybody

Also got my eye on Marlow. Impressive stuff from a fairly unheralded freshman recruit. Beat Garvin who was a top 100 kid last year. Quite a bit of progress that was made there
Yeah, Marlow was vastly underrated. I think he really came on late in his senior year, if im not mistaken. He has been really impressive. Pitt hasnt hasnt had a true freshman this advanced in some time. And to think Brown appears to right there at that level too.
