Question for Basketball Insider on failures in recruiting.

A question for you BasketballInsider. You obviously have contacts and have been involved with players. I am always surprised when recruited players with high reviews appear to not meet those expectations? In your opinion, what is it that happens? Poor evaluations by everyone? Wrong coach? Unprepared for the work required?

Players evaluated based on projections and potential, lazy and entitled, wrong people in their circle and coaches stunting growth are all possible reasons imo.

Playing on cracked asphalt courts 24/7 most of their lives ain’t laziness but I would agree and offer that more kids are destroyed by their always-in-my-ear handlers. Leads to the entitlement and career short-cuts mentioned. Just an opinion.

I mean if that was still the case, sure. But most of these prospects have been identified at an early age as someone who can get someone money. So they go to air conditioned gyms, have personal trainers and get coddled like babies instead
