Questions for MAGA/Trump supporters...(really just curious)

Do you support a constitutional amendment that would allow Trump to run for a third term in 2028? And...even bigger, would you support a potential lifetime appointment for Trump, a la the Supreme Court? Thanks in advance for your responses and thoughts.
Today on Meet the Press: Trump tells NBC News that he’s not ruling out seeking a third term as president. He says there are “methods” to do so.

Many of you think he's simply "trolling." I do not. Now, he will never have the numbers to legally amend the 22nd Amendment. But I personally have no doubt he'd like to figure out a way. I hope that all reasonable Republicans would give this a big thumbs down.

It would also set up a "media event election" of all time: Trump vs. Obama.

I feel like this is as good a place as any to readdress something I said here a couple of weeks ago and the usual suspects just laughed it off.

So I said that Obama’s telling the same lie over and over and over again about the “very fine people” Charlottesville hoax was something that helped swing the election. But I couldn’t remember the context as to why I had that belief.

Well I saw the clip the other day where Joe Rogan said that was the one thing that made him flip from voting Dem to supporting Trump. He said if they lie about that then what else are they lying about? They are capable of anything if they take a perfectly fine public quote from Trump and lie about what he said.

And if you consider that Rogan influenced millions of young voters , then it’s easy to see how the Obama and O’Biden lies caught up to them.

Dems say that people like Rogan influenced the election. Well, he was one of them until they pushed too far.

Regardless of how we feel about Trump, Biden, Obama, etc., I think that these days, with the explosion of misinformation and disinformation coming at us 24/7 on the internet and social media, it is almost impossible for incumbents these days. Used to be that being incumbent was a tremendous advantage, and it still is in most congressional races. But not necessarily for the Presidency. I fully expect Trump's numbers to fall over time, and people will yet again look for "change."

Kind of like when the starting QB throws a few picks.

As for lies...don't you think that Trump is kind of the Champion of All Times, as Ali used to say? I'm determined not to get into back and forth with you guys because we're not going to change minds, but...anyway, I know you're a good family man and if we were neighbors we'd help each other in a pinch. That's what we need to get back to in this country. Some kind of normalcy. Just don't think it's possible with you know who at the helm.

Appreciate everyone's responses. As someone who is not a Trump fan, to put it mildly, I am actually somewhat relieved (even a bit surprised) by your responses...best wishes to all.
Yeah, we’ll see the responses now he actually says it. They will follow their goose stepping orders now

Trump has "floated" this for months, prior to the election..."you'll never have to vote again," etc. Now, I do believe SOME of this is trolling...but I also believe he's capable of trying to get away with whatever he can. Fortunately -- for all of us -- he will be 82 by the end of this term, and his poll numbers will likely be much lower...just the nature of the political beast these days. And there will be plenty of Republicans who will want to gain power by then.

If the 2026 elections go poorly for the R's, he will quickly become a lame duck President with diminishing influence. Then again...I thought that after 2020...

Well, as others have said this opens a path for Obama to come back, which would be….bad…for republicans

FDR ruined the institutions of the government when he had more than 2 terms so I don’t want to see any president with a ability to harm the balance of the government in that way again

He’s really good at it lol. Obama knew Osamas whereabouts the whole time.

Do you think you're just a quiet, patriotic conservative with good old-fashioned family values? Oh no! You may be a dangerous fascist!

Study this list of fascist tendencies so youcan do better and be less fascist!

  1. You've been to a 4th of July parade at least once in your life: All that flag-waving is a classic mark of fascism. You're supposed to love the leaders and corporations that the corporate media tells you to love, not your homeland, ya' Mussolini!
  2. You voted for Trump: this one's too easy. His election was not just a threat to our democracy, but a threat to all democracy – and maybe to the universe itself. Do better!
  3. You have more than one kid and you love being a parent: Dedication to the family is a distraction from service to the state. Just abort, you fascist – don't you want to be liberated?
  4. You didn't let your teenager go to that sleepover when LITERALLY EVERYONE else got to go: Ugh, so fascist!
  5. You use fascist dog-whistles like "Merry Christmas", "see you at church on Sunday", and "I don't really like Amazon's Rings Of Power": Just come out and say you're literally Hitler.
  6. You want people to make their own decisions about their kids' education and what things they inject in their bodies and crazy stuff like that: This is hard-line Nazism – individual responsibility instead of state control. Terrifying.
  7. You wear a tiny mustache and goose-step everywhere: honestly, you should probably get yourself checked for fascism if you have anykind of mustache…
  8. You give a speech flanked by marines in front of an ominous red background, accusing your political opponents of being enemies of the state: Wait a minute, is this list taking a turn?
  9. You use federal law enforcement to intimidate and attack political opponents: Only a dictator like Trump would do this!
  10. You use the media as a puppet to spread great propaganda: For example: "The Afghanistan withdrawal was the greatest military accomplishment since the Berlin airlift."
  11. You dehumanize the other party to the point that your followers are literally trying to mow them down in the street: Trump again! Obviously.

I think the chances of Trump making some attempt at a 3rd term are about 70%. Remember, he is a fascist. However, the chances of him succeeding in getting a 3rd term is close to 0%.

You’re insane. USAID cut off your game. Giant eagle is hiring

So you disagree that he will make some effort to get a 3rd term? Like, I mean, he may announce he formed a committee to explore the legalities or whatever. That's about as far as I think it gets but I definitely think they will formally explore it.

Nah. He’s an authoritarian. He’s gonna cut all of government, get rid of Congress, rip up the constitution, abolish elections, put all of his political enemies in jail, cancel CNN and the WaPo and stay in power forever. He might even defy death.

I am glad you finally were brave enough to tell the world what the plan is. I heard he is planning an executive order that bans death of a president so he can be our leader in perpetuity.

He won't be able to or else he would. I mean he'd like to but the biggest problem he would face is the country isn't beyond repair. Hitler accomplished what Trump would like to do to the government because the Great Depression hit Germany harder than any other country due to WW1 reparations they had to pay. Germany was reeling. The US now isn't anywhere close to that. So these aren't "desperate times."

Just wait bud. There will be a crisis or he will need more time to finish what he started. They will all change their tune.

Many of these same people were all aboard the Desantis train and were done with Trump.

A "crisis" (probably of his own doing) would be the best way to seek a 3rd term. Honestly, I do not believe it will get that far. They will announce some exploratory committee, maybe a lawsuit or 2, lose those and be done. But he will try.
