Add 4 fantasy Pitt players from the past, any players.... to this years squad. Who are they,?

Mine are:

1. Hugh Green (whether down at the line at the light DE position or OLB, the greatest gamechanger)
2. Rickey Jackson (see #1)
3. Larry Fitzgerald (would make the offense completely indefensible)
4. My sleeper.... Jerry Olsavsky.. a play-making machine..

Damn, I was gonna shock you all with Jerry O. thinking I was the only one with this insight but sure enough, you have it.. Outside of the obvious, Aaron Donald would be sweet of course and any of our past De ends, Grossman, Gilbert, Green, Jackson.. How bout some sleepers here:

Lewis Moore; very under-rated OLB..
Jells; Burner deep threat to compliment Boyd.
Dickerson; just cause I loved him growing up, not sure how he would fit with this offense.
AVP; great with Chaney's pass happy offense
Zeke Gadson; Probably irrelevant in this day and age but basically Pitt's version of Rohan Marley before Rohan played..

Oh man, there are about 30 linemen from the 80's that would do wonders on this team.

1. Marino. We win the NC just with this addition because we'd never punt.

2. Revis. A shut-down corner in Narduzzi's D could. This would be sick.

3. Hugh Green. I think our DT's are adequate. If you add the greatest ever DE to that mix, look out.

4. Larry Fitz. He would be higher but a second WR is not the greatest need.

It's almost an unfair game if you can pick guys on offense because of course you'd pick TD, Marino, Fitz and Fralic. I mean, I like Conner and all, but sorry...

So I'll stick to defense, and while Hugh Green is one that is equally obvious, it's more debatable for the rest.

I went back and forth for many minutes (well, not really, but at least a few seconds). My conclusion is to go with:

Hugh
Aaron Donald
Joe Schmidt (assuming you can translate impact from that era into this era)
Revis

I'l play along, but - with one obvious exception - the caveat of only using players that I'm old enough to remember, which means players after Jackie Sherrill.

1. Hugh Green - look, I've argued the defense isn't as bad as people think, but even I know the DE position isn't a strong spot. Problem solved.
2. Larry Fitzgerald - Pitt's WR's are Tyler Boyd and a whole lot of ?'s (even though I do think someone will step up). Again, problem solved.
3. Gerald Hayes/HB Blades/Scott McKillop - I think the LB's will be OK, but regardless they are lacking star power. I just don't know which of these tackling machines would be the best pick.
4. Darelle Revis - I'm going to go with the logic of having that proven shutdown corner for this style of D, over having Marino replacing Voytik, or Bill Fralic or a bunch of other OL increasing the unit's depth.

I "think" hope and pray that we have enough offense this year - defense is at least potentially the issue - with that said:

1) - Hugh Green
2) - Ricky Jackson

For those who never saw them play, you have no idea how good the book-ends were.

3) - Ramon Walker at the safety - great range and would knock you into tomorrow - I think our corners this year will be fine.
4) - Zeke Gadson at the LB - people forget what a terror he was.

Hugh Green, Mark May, Russ Grimm and Darrelle Revis. ---

This easily solidifies the oline, gets us one of the best DE's/LB'ers to ever play college football, and a lock down cornerback. Can you imagine Conner running behind May and Grimm? And Chad could be a really good qb with some time to do something with the ball. The offense would be almost unstoppable. The defense would still have some weaknesses but should be stout enough to let the offense out score all other teams.

I would want the best QB possible since that is the most important position on the field. That's it for the offense because we are ok there. So Marino.

The other three would be defense. Hugh Green is a no-brainer since he was a DE and we are going to need serious help at that position. One would be tempted to add AD to the DL with Green, but I like balance, so I would go with Revis at CB and Joe Schmidt at LB.

4) - Zeke Gadson at the LB - people forget what a terror he was.

This is my sleeper. I'm taking the approach that I'm taking guys at positions of weakness, i.e. as great as TD was, the drop off from him to what we have today isn't as large as the drop off from former Panther greats at other positions to what we have today. Zeke fits that bill, along with Aaron Donald and Hugh Green. Our CB's would look all-world with these guys putting pressure on the QB and bottling up the run. We could get away with only putting 6 or 7 in the box. Then throw in Fitzgerald. Boyd on one side, Fitz on the other and Voytik would look as good as any QB to don the Blue and Gold not named Dan Marino.

Seriously, to take this team from a 6-6 team to a NC champ contender, let me add these 5 players. Fitz. Fralic. Green. Doleman. Revis.

I didn't say Dorsett because we already have a great running back and attack. Fitz makes it a nightmare matchup with Boyd on the other side. Fralic anchors the OL and allows someone to get pushed out to add some quality depth.

Green just dominates play on defense, Doleman is that dominant DE that frees up others because of the double teams he will require and Revis shuts down half of the field.

I am thinking he means strictly on THIS team... so that being said I would be Fitz, Sean Gilbert, Aaron Donald and Hugh Green.

Marino ... because he's ... well ... Marino.
Dorsett .... He and Connor would average 150 yds/game. (each)
Fralic ... because he's the best.
Green .... in college the best DE.

Not Mentioned Guys;
Scott MCKillop, Antonio Bryant, Jeff Otah, Joe Flacco
