Quinerly?

oh hear we go again....

Here we go again what? Yeah, I'm the type of poster to spread rumors for affect.

He texted me just before any of these posts hit. He has no inside knowledge, just found it interesting in the timing of his text. He has never been on a message board in his life, so he's not trying to have any type of fun. His son also goes to Nova and let him know that's what he heard there as well. Doesn't mean much, but it was interesting to get that text and then see some posts on here.

He should fight for immediate eligibility like everybody else.

With how liberal the NCAA has become on granting transfers (claim anything and you're good), maybe he should claim a hardship that Nova was too close to home and he needs to branch out. I am only half-joking.

We have a PG in the same class that he wont beat out so Pitt doesn't make much sense to me unless it's a given that Johnson is turning pro after next season

I don't see X leaving before at least his junior year. He still has a lot he needs to add to his game

It sure would be nice if X didn’t havd to play 30-35 minutes a game at PG with the intensity he does. He is so exhausted the last 5 minutes of every game. Who do we have to back him up now? Trey?

Gotta prepare. Thin roster as of today. Transfers aren't out of the question for anyone anymore anywhere anytime. Plus there's that injury thing that is always lurking.

So why can't X and Q be on the floor at the same time? (At least some of the time.)

This will be interesting.

I watched him a bit at Nova and it was easy to see that he was a bad fit for that system. I really think Capel’s up tempo style would be great for him. It would also give us a fantastic insurance policy if X happens to leave early.

That said, his game needs a lot of work. The shooting has never been strong and it didn’t look like he really took a step forward last year in that area. Also, like most kids, he needs to get stronger. At the end of the day, we have the space to be able to take on a transfer that has to sit. These are the kind of kids you gamble on, as the ceiling is high

I would rather have Morton.

I don't know anything about his mechanics, because I haven't seen much of him. But he had pretty solid shooting percentages, according to maxpreps. As a Senior, he was 59 for 123 from 3 (48%). For his career, he was 220 for 493 (44.6%). That's a good sample size. I'm thinking his issue is mostly with confidence, but I'm sure style of play didn't help either.

Quinerly HS Stats

You can never have enough PG's who can actually play. I also don't think X will be ready for any kind of pro career in the next 2 years. He's a pretty good college level player right now. But he has some learning to do.

They can but he is transferring due to lack of PT. If X and Trey are here 4 years, he isnt going to start for a long time.
With that logic in play, no guard (PG or SG) should come to Pitt b/c of X and Trey.
As much as we need bigs, we need guards too.

100% guaranteed that he thinks he's better than either of those guys. You may think he isn't going to start for a long time, but I doubt he'd agree.

With that said, he's probably dead wrong. Jay Wright is not at all reluctant to give minutes to freshmen who earn them, yet Joe Cremo played nearly twice as much as Jahvon Quinerly. Remember, this is the kid who posted "they were my second choice for a reason" on instagram after Nova lost to Penn. Oh by the way, he's already 20 years old.

I'm not sure that we're in a position to say no to a player like Quinerly, but a big part of me wants to.
