Have a friend that played football at Kent state when bates was there. I asked what he thought. The person said he is now a pitt Fan. Said bates treated the players with respect it didn’t matter if u were a starter or not he tried to help everyone. Said he was a sincere guy and that he is not a guy that yells and screams and blasts players he’s a guy that is more caring he has a set of principals and sticks with them. Said players will love him and thinks he will be Pitts best recruiter.
