I'm not a lawyer. I'm merely a business owner that has been sued and won a case that went to litigation.

Insurance companies don't willingly pay settlements. They look for ANYTHING to get out of it.

My take on this "complaint" is they are doing ANYTHING to get out of being financially responsible for writing. $60,000,000.00 check.

It's only a complaint filed. Not a ruling.

Now, do I believe PATERNO knew about Sandusky and his pedophilia as early as the seventies? Yes.

because apparently every kid that ever was molested by Sandusky went to Joe. Not the police, his parents, his teacher, an administrator, brother, uncle, doctor, nope, only Joe. somehow after getting molested by Jerry, a twelve year old was able to track down Joe but never thought to tell anyone else? If Joe knew in the 70s, then everybody knew in the 70s. what did the kid do, stand in Joe's parking spot until he cornered him?

There will most likely be some bomb shells coming that include men from Philly to Harrisburg to State College to Pittsburgh and none of them is Joe. Other powerful people in power positions in the state, yes, Joe, nope.

keep an eye on the news, it must be fun to have a person like Joe to whip on an anonymous board. Remember Bill Conklin, the Philly Sports writer who was disgraced for being expose as a pedophile? yeah, there are others, Joe wasn't one of them.
 
Why is so hard for cult members to understand that Joe knew? I am sure many, many people knew but he was one of them! Go make a statue of one of the victims for your penance.

He knew about Sandusky in the 70's liking of little boys and did absolutely NOTHING ABOUT IT.

It was done for no other reason than to protect his precious football team.

The only people who have positive thoughts about Peterno are the Nitters.
If you travel around this wonderful country and ask people what do you think about the Penn State Sandusky child molestation scandal they don't think much about PSU, PSU football, or Paterno.
That's the good news!

Sickens me, absolutely sickens me that paterno died and got off of facing indictments and arrest for what he allowed to happen.. The angel of death did Sandusky nation a huge favor in taking joepa when he did.. btw, is the angel of death a man or woman?
 
It's really scary how crazy these folks are - there could be videotape of Joe and Jerry talking about it and somehow it wouldn't mean anything

yes, it's pitt fans that are being played.. We are the only ones talking about it, no one outside of pitt fans think paterno is a scumbag.. Dear lord, will someone venture into central pa and open up this dark, isolated part of the state and expose them to the rest of the world, Please? Sources tell the KDKA Investigators the 57-year-old man is the third man who claims he was sexually assaulted at the Brownson House more than 40 years ago.

In a dirty basement room full of kids games, old school desks and chairs, the man says 22-year-old Jerry Sandusky raped him. “He started fondling and touching me. I’m 11-years-old, it felt good. I didn’t know any better. Next thing I know, he was raping me,” the victim said.

“He kept repeating ‘Real men don’t cry.’ I kept telling him how bad it hurt. My stomach was hurting awfully. He kept saying “Real men don’t cry’ until I finally pushed backwards and he fell away from me,”

Tears streaming down his face, he says he ran away from the scene, ran home.

"I just thank God it was raining that day when I went home. That's why I like the rain now, you can't see tears in the rain, so no one could tell I was crying."

The victim also said he’s tried to commit suicide three times.Many are asking why he came forward now -
“Mainly, because I know I can’t be the only one out here. I may have been the first, but I can’t be the last,” said the victim.
The man hopes other victims will be able to get the help he is now receiving.

Most innocent parties just payoff the accusers.

I'm sure this is to help the healing process.
Usually, I find the guilty parties wanting to hid the truth from the public, this is the real
reason for the payoff?

tgar - You seem to have a lot of time on hand. Take a minute to view the comments in the WSJ or Washington Post regarding this. The whole country knows what a farce Paterno was. Your little spin campaign is pitiful!
 
What is funny to me is they will admit that everybody knew...except Joe. How is that possible?

wait, so there is a kid out there that was abused by Sandusky that didn't tell Joe? wow. oh wait, Jerry didn't work at PSU yet, but he was actively grooming little boys. yes, this is tragic.

here is food for thought, ( and yes, I am a father of two boys, now grown, proudly I raised them myself ) if every man that fathered a child remained steadfast, vigilant and involved in their kids lives, there would be way fewer victims out there. It is sad.

jerry is a pedophile who probably abused hundreds of boys. common denominator is all were available to be groomed because dad was nowhere to be found. Jerry was investigated a couple of times by the experts, CYS, etc, and each time found to be not guilty of a crime. He was a pro at being a pedophile. He is a vile disgusting human and he was highly skilled at keeping everyone in the dark including his wife.

When the Pedophile ring associated with this tragedy is exposed and it will be, you will find out who knew. Yes, some guys knew but they were in on it also.

no spin man, believe what you want to believe. I am headed out to work, just thought I would see what you guys were discussing on this. Looking forward to the Pitt game this September. I am a Steelers season ticket holder along with PSU, I was really interested to see how the court of public opinion was going.

Thanks for the discussion. And when the final chapter of this sordid mess is written, and Joe is vindicated, acknowledge it.
 
The difference is if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be no Pitt fans defending the coach or institution. You see, though we may communicate on a message board, our lives are not defined by Pitt football and coach.

How do you know? Wasn't he in his mid-30's when he starting dating a girl in her teens? That is very weird to me.

a report that the author was paid 8 million to produce who is now referring to it as opinion not fact, and a desperate article to deflect what will happen at today's BOT meeting using a SENSATIONAL headline and alleged information in the body of the article are proof? if it was your dad, you would swallow that and go away?

I've given a bit of thought to that. I believe that the Attorney General of PA was faced with a big dilemma. Had the presentment implicated Paterno and had he also been indicted, I believe it would reduced the likelihood of getting the conviction of Sandusky. I think that not going after JoePa was a strategic move. Had JoePa been also charged, like the rest of the rats, it would've increased the potential of getting a few cult members on the jury who would've done whatever they felt they had to do to protect the legacy of their idol.

So my question here is, is it better to have gotten the conviction of the Tickle Monster even though it meant leaving JoePa alone or should they have gone after all the guilty parties and taken the risk of not getting a conviction on any of them? I believe that the importance of getting the root cause behind bars outweighed the need to get everyone involved. As much as I'd have loved to have seen a JoePa mugshot, the Tickle Monster behind bars is what matters the most.

a good question. sadly, I believe paterno was above the law.. Obvious with regards to central pa enforcement but even statewide, doubt any DA would have had the sack to go after him in court.. you go after him and fail, cant imagine that is too good of a career move..

I spend half of my time in Pittsburgh, attended Pitt for a year and a half, PSU as well though I am a Graduate of George Washington University, have traveled the world, served in the Navy, raised kids, etc. etc. its an interesting world, I am interested in what everybody thinks and I don't think most of your fanbase is dumb. I was just curious and I enjoyed the conversation.

what you think doesn't matter to me anymore than what I think doesn't matter to you. it was just conversation before getting on with the day. Thanks
