I get as tired of anyone with Jamie constantly harping on the rebounding, but look at the last 4 games. We beat Miami on the boards, even in a blowout loss at UNC we dominate the boards, probably the only reason we beat Wake is cause of all of our second chance points, and again today, another edge on the glass.

Not only that, but at times today on the glass we sort of looked like old Pitt. Artis, young, Luther..those guys really went after the ball today. Out jumped and out worked Syracuse.

If we can continue to rebound like Pitt of old, unless we run into a buzzsaw like we did at UNC (Miami found out what it is liked to play a ticked off UNC team today), I think we can hang with most teams.

Our defense still leaves plenty to be desired, but the effort is there, esp on the glass. Wake was ugly, but the effort was there in that one as well.

Hope it continues

How can a team rebound that well and defend that poorly. Its inexplicable.

Rebounding helps the offense but it REALLY helps the defense by eliminating second chance points. And, the mentality necessary to work at hitting the boards consistently extends into defensive effort. Ok, given a couple of our guys, it SHOULD extend into defensive effort anyway.

We've got to look making at any small steps we can to improve. Nobody really thought this was a Sweet 16 team roster this year, well except a couple of semi-clueless types who got carried away with scoring 85 against OOC teams.

Minus a couple blow-outs instead of closer losses when we basically quit, the overall record is not too different than what we could have realistically expected. If we take care of business against VT and GT, we're probably only the NC ST loss on the low side of realistic projections. Although one upset of the upper enchelon would have been nice.....

If we rebound like that against a short handed team (Duke) then we will really exhaust them. All the extra possessions will wear them down on defense giving us the edge on offense.

Not sure how it will help us against Lousiville since they have more depth. Good defense and rebounding will go a long way against the Cards. Not saying that will only work against the Cards, just that it will take maximum effort on both sides of the courts to beat Louisville.

Yeah, for as much as the team was going off the rails, they definitely have been making a collective effort to hit the boards.

I am anxious to see how they finish up the season.

They have stemmed the bleeding, and now have two REALLY tough teams coming into the Pete.

Can they pull a big win out?

If not, will the get shaken again?

Your last sentence is the real question.
