What are the requirements for a player to reclassify and graduate a year earlier? Jeffress is only 16, so I am assuming that holding a kid back for a year so that are more physically mature — something frequently done in football (see, e.g. Jimmy Clausen whose father held him back 2 years for athletic reasons so that as a freshman at ND he was older than many of the juniors on the team) — isn’t done often in BB.
I was a good (albeit not great) student in HS. I had 24 AP credits when I enrolled at Pitt, so I needed only 12 credits a semester to graduate on time. But, I could not have enrolled a year earlier because I would not have had the required “core” courses, including 4 years of HS English, to be admitted.
Of course, that was in the Dark Ages. Have the “core” course requirements changed? Are kids just completing their core courses earlier in HS and taking electives like Home Ec and Woodshop In their senior years? It just surprises me how many BB prospects reclassify or at least have the option to do so.
