Recruiting by State (hint: look at Fla)

Agree completely. We all know that the talent pool in PA is shrinking, which makes it all the more important that when a top player is a western PA kid, we need to land more then our fair share.

I don't think it is shrinking. It may not be 50's-early 90's strong but it has not been this strong since the early 90's. The mid 90's -2010 there were players here and there but the depth has been much better recently imo.

We STILL must do better in PA - especially WPA. FL is great but if we don't do better at home we cannot realize our aspirations.

I don't think WPA is as important as some people make it. Look at Ohio St. under Urban Meyer. When Tressel was coaching Ohio St. he got all the top talent in Ohio and recruited big ten country heavily. Then got smacked by faster, more athletic SEC teams year after year in the bowl game. Under Urban Ohio St has recruited Ohio less aggressively and has gone south for their talent. Now they're just as fast and athletic as those SEC teams and are dominating the big ten.

OSU is not a good comparison.

I really like seeing us getting players from PA/OHIO/NJ/and FLA as there are a lot of good high school players in those states and they are close enough to us (except FLA) that we have a better chance of pulling players to Pitt from those states (FLA kids seem to go all over)...... I would also like to see us more successful in the MD/VA/DC areas..... when we win more and challenge for ACC titles, then we can expand our recruiting into other ACC areas.

You must have been out on NYE...Clemson not only ran by tO$U all night; they also pushed them all over the field. The most "SEC" looking player on tO$U's team is from New Castle.

It is possible that PA could come in 3rd in this class! Has that ever happened? Love the Fla speed!
Over two years [so far] Duzz has pulled in 9 from Florida, 9 from Ohio and 12 from Pa. I think that shows a pretty good outline of how we need to recruit. Recruit Pa. but go where the players are. Over a 5 year span Pitt will have a very good balance of Pa. kids and kids from other strongholds.

-Ohio State still gets smacked around. They have been killed recently by LSU, Florida, and Clemson twice. They play in a pretender league.

-It doesnt matter where the players are from as long as you recruit athletes with speed at every position. They can be from Alaska for all I care.

They beat the mighty Canes for the title back in 2002. 2 National Titles in 13 years. I'll take it.

-Yea, I bet you would Big Ten Flamer. Won on a phantom call. Lets talk about cheating for a moment. Jim Tressel was fired because? Ohio State vacated 2012 because? Penn State aka Rape U covered up a sex scandal because? You want me to continue with your fat 10?

Are they? The looked kind of slow against Clemson. And I'm not so sure they are dominating the B1G any more today than they did under JT.

-Ohio State has 1 Big Ten title in 9 years. Let that sink in. The days of them backdooring their way into championship games are over. It was a disgrace they got in over Penn State this year. Although losing 31-0 and getting blown out, AGAIN, in a major bowl game will have people throwing salt on them for years.

Obviously, you have never read my posts before. I much more of a shill for SEC football.

Yes please continue. I totally don't get your point. Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss State, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, UNC, UGA... Any school that competes a the top level of college football cheats. Cheating wins. I like cheaters.

-No, you have a major hard on for the Big Ten, especially Penn State and Ohio State. But since we are on the subject, which University in the last 100 years covered up Rape for decades? And Ohio State? They are one of the Top 5 cheaters in college athletics. Tressel? The tattoo scandal? Maurice Clarett who signed with an agent before the season even started and received illegal benefits during that fraud title team which should be vacated just like USC's was? Woody Hayes punching a player on the field? Dont get me started on that clown Gordon Gee that ran the AD from Morgantown? Ohio State is more corrupt then the mafia.

Don't forget Michigan. I have a major hard on for them too since Harbaugh took over there.

The SEC will always be the king of college football. The B1G was just better this year & the SEC sucked out loud.

-Put google in your search bar. Type Big Ten is overrated. At least 100 articles have come out blasting your fraud conference from every major media outlet in the country from LA to Seattle to NY to FL to Chicago to the countryside newsletters. Your fraud conference is getting crushed right now from everyone. And you are the only dope, on a Pitt message forum, arguing the Big Ten is good. This is why I laugh at you.

Do you care to tell me our record versus the B1G in the last quarter century? I know it isn't pretty.

I don't put much stock in meaningless bowl games. Almost everything I read touted the B1G as the best back at the first of December.

Brian Bennett is a b1g fanboy and everything he writes uses that bias.

-The Big Ten will be watching the ACC play for the National Title again. Its a common theme these days, ACC vs SEC for the National Title with Fat 10 golfing.

-Big Ten football is ACC baseball, pretender league with Zero National Title threats. Thats all that needs to be said at this point in time because there are ZERO teams in the Fat 10 in Football, Basketball, or Baseball, that are anywhere close to winning a National Title right now.

You make decisions based on less information instead of more information? That's not smart.

As much as you pretend on this site, I believe you are being sincere that your ability to process information is faulty.

How many players sit out games in regular season? How many coaches take other jobs during the regular season?

I'm not convinced out HC puts as much emphasis on bowl games as he does conference games. Are you?

More information is better than less information.

More data points are better than fewer data points.

6 wins are better than 2 wins.

42 points > 39 points.

Its really simple. For most of us, anyways.

Too many of you are looking at the anomaly that was the Clemson game and arguing that Ohio State under Urban Meyer loses like that all the time. That's the first time Meyer's been beat like that since taking over the buckeyes. They just won a national title smacking Alabama and Oregon around. Some of you have really short memories.

Pitt pushed Ped St all over the field. Their own mistakes and a couple rough calls by the refs are the only reason the final score was close.

Keep in mind- Pitt had no passing attack at that point of the season, Connor was a shell of himself and still scored 40 simply running all over then.

Play it again healthy- Pitt doesn't take the foot of the pedal and rolls them again.

So are you saying that you think Pitt is better than PSU?

We STILL must do better in PA - especially WPA. FL is great but if we don't do better at home we cannot realize our aspirations.

Agree... but this I hope is an anomaly year where there are just kids that were Notre Dame fans. ND has NEVER gotten that many kids out of here, and they won 4 games! It certainly isnt a case where kids like the direction of the program, they are just irish kids that want to go there.
I think this is more a case of years of bad Pitt football during these kids impressionable years, and parents that were fans of other schools.

I hope that is the case. I did not read any say they are huge Pitt fans then decide to go to school elsewhere.
