Recruiting rankings

For those of you b**ching about the quality of Pitt's recruiting. After watching the game yesterday, what do you think of Ok St's? I was told their rankings are similar to what Pitt's has been in the last 5 years. With the right coach recruiting athlete's who fit the system, a school like Pitt can win. That is not to say that if Pitt could get the 4* and 5*, they wouldn't take them, but it is what it is. We always will hope for the top athletes every year, but it is just hard, especially with the bluebloods going after those guys.

The people who bitch don't have a clue. They post with their emotions instead of taking a step back and analyze the situation as to what the problem is. The problem is our most talented players are true freshmen, red shirt freshmen and sophomores and a lack of a good QB like Peterman.

Still haven't heard what you guys think about Ok St's recruiting? Competing with Okla and Tex, among others down there. And, have not heard an answer on these boards as to how does Pitt get those 5* that fans want.

I watched the game this morning, and when you commit people to stop the run and can't, and your corners are islanded, well not good scheme wise against Ok St..

We are going to have to change the scheme to fit personal, or recruit the right players to run his D. I have no idea what we are doing after year three

The difference between osu and us is not recruiting...its coaching. Narduzzi is a loud mouth clown that spends more time trying to beat James Franklin than he does on his other 11 opponents combined.

then that is even more of an indictment of Narduzzi's coaching ability with regards to defense

Gundy's recruiting theory....if close to equal, take the character kid....take a kid who plays multiple sports....and take the fastest one, even if the others are higher ranked. We get 2-3 4 stars and the rest 3 stars with maybe one or two 2 stars. In good years we got 5-6 4 stars and a five star here and there. Our 4-5 stars don't pan out/ are out of school in a year half the time. Probably because they were the low hanging fruit and the more name programs got the better characters. Hell, a lot of our four stars are guys who get their fourth star after committing or signing and they're re-evaluated. Gundy goes more off his own evaluations than the recruiting sheets who I think sell out to the bigger programs.

Their recruiting is fine I guess. Their recruiting has stopped them from playing for anything significant, and that's with the Big 12 being down for a while now.
They just don't play many teams with high recruiting class rankings. So their "fine" recruiting is more than fine enough for them to win a bunch of games.
