Who is at the WVU game? Should be a big weekend. Heard a great Elijah brown story in the parking lot too. Can’t wait for that kid

I personally didn't see anyone at the game yesterday but I know that Cael Weidemoyer and Mark Effendian from FCA were on official visits this weekend and I am sure the game was part of that. I hope every potential recruit was here for this game because that was the best football game I have seen in person and exemplified what Pitt is all about.

Looking at Caels Instagram it looks like all 4 mentioned wrestlers were at the game along with Elijah Brown.

this is an interesting video on recruiting that has pitt mentioned a few times. My biggest takeaway was that Nico and Jax train together with Jax driving to Pittsburgh to workout with him. Thought that was interesting

I’d say both going ok st. Have that relationship with DT for many years.
They are taking visits together so I would be more inclined that they want to go to the same school than I originally thought. Have to think it is is PSU OKST tOSU or UM (and maybe Iowa for Bo/Jax). Those four are the only ones with a real shot at Blaze and these two IMO

I’m not sold on the high end programs being their choices. Hearing Bo say he wants to turn a program around and be the face of it makes me think he may go to a non traditional program. He can win anywhere in my opinion. He also could have gone to Blair, Sem or any other big wrestling school but went to McCort, who was never a strong program, and he helped build that. He seems to want to be a program builder.

If he does truly want to be a program builder then Pitt is the obvious choice. I just have to see that to believe it. I think he will go to a top program because of the level of training partners available there

I heard that comment about building program also. Did he mean taking someone from top 10 to team natty. IMO only 4-5 schools max in the running. NIL also has to factor in. That reinforces only 4-5 schools with top NIL money for wrestling.

I wouldn’t say they built a program at McCort. They recruited a national team. Only team better in AA last year Faith Cristian. Recruits even better.

They recruited a team of people who wanted to train with Bassett. It isn't like they are bringing the guys there by NIL. They want the coaching that made the Bassetts/Gibsons/Herrings/Miller all so good

Recruiting isn’t allowed in high school.

I’m all for them wanting to train together and for wanting the coaching. You can do this and still follow the rules.

Jax Forrest released his top 10 schools:
Iowa
Iowa State
Lehigh
Michigan
Nebraska
NC State
North Carolina
Ohio State
Oklahoma State
Penn State
Lehigh making it on there over Pitt is disappointing but Jax is not someone we ever had a real shot at. 8/10 schools are perennial top 10 schools and the biggest of big school will likely be his final 4/5

speaking of little brothers, I would anticipate Karson Brown taking an official sometime soon, he is a top 50 prospect in class of 2026 and his older brother Kade is a true frosh this year

Guess that leaves Pitt at 18. He has 17 left including UPJ. Believe most agree 4-5 really have a chance. Forest 8/10 are the same. Only UNC and NC St are different which is likely based on him being form NC.

Must have been why McCort wasnt allowed to wrestle in the state tournament for 2-3 years

100%. Many schools recruit. One thing to pull a local kid or two. Which still sucks for the schools that follow the rules. Developing your own kids means so much more. McCort took it to such an extreme level pulling kids from all over the country. Basically forced PIAA to do something.

Have a hard time understanding if you are a team full of recruited and nationally ranked kids. Why do you not want to compete against Malvetn Prep or Wyoming Sem. They are basically similar schools at your level. Instead they are crushing small AA school districts which often have hard time fielding a full lineup.

How about the 2025 commits?

Carson Walsh from NJ and Bode Marlow TJ both top 100?

Evan Petrovich - Connellsville

Any others?

2025 Based on Willies last updated rankings (before summer)
#80 Carson Walsh, #130 Marlow, #155 Petrovich, NR Steldt
Not many top 100 guys left in the class. I expect this to be another smaller class, with 2026 being big and 2027 being a shoot for the moon type of class

Weidemoyer commited to Lehigh today. Would have been a nice get. Would really like to add a upper middleweight in this 2026 class

Effendian committed to Princeton, Singer committed to Lehigh. I would guess we are favorites for little Pitzer and Angelo, hopefully Sloboda as well. Some of the other guys I listed have since committed but most are still uncommitted

A 2025 guy we had on a visit recently is Quakertown's Gavin Carroll (5th at 145 PIAA AAA). He has made big jumps year to year and is a football player so he is someone I could see having Laffey like improvement once he is on campus.
There have been some more visits in the last week as well

From the new @Eric_Knopsnyder article, we had CJ Huerta from CA, Michael Turi from West Scranton PA and Nadav Nafshi from Harriton PA in for visits last week. According to the article all are class of 2026 which would mean Nadav reclassified as part of his transfer to Germantown Academy.

What level of recruit are these guys?
