Reid chattin' with Carolina now per 247....

It's very discouraging to know that Pitt has close to zero chance to land anyone to help next year. It appears that at best, we'll have a team that may have a chance of not being in the basement of the ACC, but barely. When are we going to get even one piece of good news?

We literally just got a piece of good news yesterday.

See, this makes sense to me. I have been waiting for a Duke or UNC to get involved. Or a Kentucky or Kansas.
Yea, I dont know why it took so long. His recruitment has been bizarre.

I always say if you wait to be one of the last to commit, you can name your school like that big stiff that chose ECU over us and Duke. The kid is horrible and averaged like 2 PPG at ECU but he was one of the last ones. Same logic applies to Blakes going to Duke though he is ranked much higher and should contribute there but he would never have gotten a Duke offer early

We got "news." I wouldn't call it "good news." We all know we are going to have 12 guys on scholarship. Essentially we replaced Coulibaly with a slightly better player. Ideally though, you'd like to a Coulibaly (or Oladapo) coming off the bench.
He didn’t replace Coulibaly.

Most likely, he is replacing Toney.

Right now, he is the starting Center simply because we have none....and he rebounds. So right now, he is the Coulibaly replacement
We will not be starting a 6-7 center unless he is a much bigger 6-7 than this guy is.

He will not be our starting center.

You mean Oladipo? Yeah, right. Let's first see him in a Pitt uniform and see how he can perform against ACC competition, if he gets here. I'm reserving judgement on if he can perform at this level.

I'm looking forward to Capel living up to his recruiting reputation and get us some top 100 and top 50 recruits that can help us next year and for the next few years to build this program. Oladipo doesn't fall into that category.

I think that is correct because we will get someone else but if we had a game tomorrow, he is our starting Center because Max is Peace Ilegomah

Maybe he is as good as big Fella or even Orlando Lett, though I doubt it.

That guy was awful at ECU. Barely played, then got hurt, now transferring.

How long do you plan on looking forward to that?

Lett was 265lbs
Lett was a very unusual player. Really soft hands and a great passer for a big guy. Long arms and a deceptively good shot blocker for a 6'6 guy. He also had Chevy in the frontcourt with him so he didn't have to carry the whole load.

The new guy isn't a small body, that's for sure, but he's not a "space-eater" like Lett was. Anyway you cut it, we needed somebody who can bang. Now we need a couple more of them.

Lett & Troutman were a great duo....both had dozens of moves and fakes, knew how to use the glass and had great hands. Really fun to watch them abuse bigger guys,

I used to love the high-low post game we ran with O up high and Chevy on the block. A staple of the Howland-Dixon post-centric offense until Jamie decided to go to a trendier motion offense late in his time at Pitt.
