Former Stallings assistant that people were impressed with after his 28-8 and 27-7 seasons at Monmouth in 2016 and 2017. Monmouth beat UCLA, ND, USC, Georgetown, and Rutgers OOC in the 2015-16 season and got shafted out of an at-large bid.

Last year he finished 11-20 and this year started 0-7. Looks like he missed out on his payday.

Yes, was thinking the other day that he really lost out on an opportunity in the same way that Larry Fedora lost his chance to move up at UNC. Hopefully Monmouth rewards his loyalty with extreme patience but probably not. Wonder if Brandin Knight gets a hard look if Rice is canned after the season.

This would be a great job for BK but Rutgers is going to suck again. Will they take a Rutgers assistant? Still can't believe Knight wants to be there

Being close to home is nearly always a positive. Andy Toole is another who probably should have jumped when the chance was there. Fordham is a tough job, but at worst, the money in the top 10-12 leagues is now so good, that even if he failed, he'd be in a very good place financially. If you go to Fordham and win, big schools are going to open the vault for you. It really is tricky to figure out when and where to jump.

Toole can coach and does a great job at finding overlooked talent. The problem is he is just like his mentor Mike Rice. He is crazy and abusive to his players, he is just lucky he has not been caught like Rice and is better at hiding it. I know a number of guys who worked with him and Rice at the Hoop Group and he has physically gone after HS kids.

Ppl think his star players transfer just because they have the talent to play at a higher level. Some do but most transfer due to his daily abuse. If he were ever able to clean up his act and learn how to treat players right he would have had many bigger schools knocking at his door. But he can’t keep players.

It’s a long list but a few are Marcquies Reed the best player at Clemson. He lost Rodney Pryor to G Town. And last years star Dachon Burke transfered to Nebraska. Plus a bunch of other good players to mid majors. The guy just does not get it.
