Terrible news. A terrific player on the team that got me hooked on Pitt hoops.
He was a lot of fun to watch play.
Did a great job rapping to “Pitt’s On the Rise” and the follow up “Pitt Has Arrived”.

Back then a lot of the games were just on the radio So I had to listen to many of the road games. Billy would often comment after Gore made a shot: "Too bad they don't award extra points for degree of difficulty". D could hang, twist and turn to get shots up with the best of them. He also had a sweet jumper, especially from the corner.

The first time I saw Demetrius Gore he played in the Roundball Classic and was uncommitted which was highly unusual for a US all star . When I heard he signed with Pitt I knew Pitt bb was for real . Charles Smith and Gore in the same class with Curtis Aiken the yr before and then Jerome to follow ! Those were great yrs to be a Pitt bb fan . Gore was properly the most entertaining Pitt player to watch a great talent . Way too young to be gone RIP DG .
