Once again, SEC is dominating recruiting and Big Ten close behind. I used Top 30 since that reflects the Top 25 better until signing day. Looks like the Florida Programs are back in recruiting. Big Ten has 4 Programs in the Top Ten so far, SEC closes fast near signing day. Maryland and Wisconsin in the Big Ten are doing pretty good as well. Coaches at UCLA, TCU and Baylor, and Ole Miss are enjoying recent 10 Games wins. PITT has so much more to do!

hate to see the nits at #10. msu is killing it. golden hasn't done anything on the field yet but he can recruit.
Just put up 2015 Rankings, SEC just blows every Conference away. Penn State was in the lead most of the year in 2015 in the Top Ten, but dropped afterwards Season was over and Franklin ended up taking recruits from Pitt to keep in the Top 20.

I am going to look at some Coaches before and afterwards their first years, like Briles, Patterson, Dantonio, Graham, CoachRod, Franklin, Holgrosen, Kelly, etc later.

I put in 2 to 3 years Recruiting Rankings before the Coaches took over and what some might have done elsewhere before they arrived at the program they are recruiting today. After that I listed what Rankings happen they came that year. Even though they may have been appointed in 2011 and before they coached one game, they still recruiting for that Program that year. So, I just listed the following years before and after they came to avoid such confusion.

PITT:
When any fair-minded Football Fan considers all the PITT Coaching Changes, Recruiting Class Losses due to ACC Raid Expansion in 2003, Pederson's Poison return, actually PITT Recruiting in the Top 50 and winning in the Top 45, did not look that bad. Pederson not being able to have another Head coach in waiting before firing the old one both at Pitt and Nebraska and Pitt again, didn't help much. Moreover, few good coaches wanted to work under Pederson so Pitt took months and lost recruits due to Pederson's Poison, as I term it! Yet, Coach Pat taking over last year's recruiting with Chryst taking some Pitt recruits with him to Wisky and Franklin grabbing some at the end, hurt too. Untested and first year Coach Pat & Staff are still getting their feet wet, Pitt still has so little done and so much to do?

Coach Narduzzi First Year No Losses!

WVU:
WVU actually won more games even with lower recruiting rankings than Pitt and Penn State? Mush of this was due to CoachRod superb coaching and later some NCAA Sanctions for breaking Practice Rules beyond the 20 hour student athlete work week rules? Dana Holgrosen inherited a pretty good Team and won 10 games with it

VANDERBILT:
Say what you want about Fast Jimmy, but he recruited at Vanderbilt and is not afraid to raid other Programs as he did by taking Vanderbilt, Rutgers, and Pitt Commits and after losing a few De-commits too. Vanderbilt has returned to lower Recruiting rankings since Franklin left too! Just looking at the 2 years before he took over the Commodore's Ship shows he can sell himself, his program, and win too!

MSU:
Few knew but Coach Dantonio did inherit some pretty good recruits and Top 30 Recruiting Ranking Teams. He won early with them and took a dip but has developed his own MSU Spartan Winning System just as Alvarez did at Wisconsin. Coach Dantonio is now recruiting in the Top 25 almost every year. In any event, the good news is Coach Dantonio did it with coach Narduzzi by his side and in charge of the Defense. The bad news Coach Narduzzi does not have Coach Dantonio by his side anymore either, so PITT and MSU Fans shall see? The only thing I fear is if Urban Meyer's ever leaves OSU, because Dantonio that grew up in Columbus could go back to OSU, and that could mean Coach Pat could return to MSU. This is just my fear, I think Coach Pat wills aty at Pitt a long time once and if he can establish a Program the same that happen at Wisky & MSU?

ARIZONA:
I always respected CoachRod as a Head Coach because of how he won under his system of teaching Linemen to get run over slowly and losing 13-9! In any event, I did not include CoachRod's Michigan Years, but at UA, he is winning while not recruiting in the Top 25 just like he did at WVU, but not Michigan? At Michigan, he recruited in the Top 25 but did not win there?

Coach Toad did not have a bad group of players when he took over after Texting his Pitt Players high and dry, while making sure Pederson was not there? In any event, he is recruiting and winning at ASU in the Top 25! GraHAM has just a penny for his thoughts as well.

MICHIGAN:
Well, if Franklin wants to see how not 1 but 2 Michigan Coaches recruited in the Top 10, but did not win in the Big & Top Ten, look to Michigan from 2008 to 2014. Michigan played a tough schedule unlike what Franklin is doing with lightweights to pad his wins. Nonetheless, Franklin also needs to watch out for Jim Harbaugh now that he is back at Michigan. The reason is that Harbaugh recruited only in the Top 20-40s at Stadford, and still came up with well coached winning Teams that beat USC Talent. At Michigan, expect even more from Harbaugh and Alumnus!

UCLA:
UCLA's Head Coach Mora inherited a pretty good group of Recruits and then went out and recruited even better players for his Bruins Teams. Coach Mora proves he can recruit and win! Just look at his numbers and understand he competes and recruits against and with USC? UCLA ia an Urban University too, and a Top 25 Recruiting with Top 2o Winning, gives hope to Pitt Fans?

DUKE:
Well, talk about a Coach that has not seen his Recruiting above Top 50 until this year, but in the last 3 years actually wins in the top 40. It is Duke's Cutcliffe, and he just can flat out coach anybody on any Team? Of course it helps when a Dumbo on the other sideline, is learning how to coach by making stupid calls, and thinking losing 3 games every year to bad Special Teams is not a problem, and then goes back to Wisconsin where he can live off of his former Mentor, for Chryst Sakes???

WISCONSIN ALVAREZ SYSTEM:
In the 1980s, Barry Alvarez that went to Nebraska and was from Pittburgh wanted the Pitt Head Coaching job, but Pitt Chancellor was too dumb to hire him. Wisconsin did, and Barry has turned out to be a Great Head Coach and Athletic Director. All he does is hire coaches that can win under his system with recruiting Classes seldom to none in the Top 25? Wisconsin the last 15 years has tehs econd best record in the Big ten only behind Ohio State! enough said, and Barry not only rebuilt the Wisconsin Football Program, but brought back high attendance, revenues, and never blamed one fan? If Pitt had hired Barry way back when, Pitt would have never hired Steve Pederson and over 8 coaches and saved millions from buyouts!

The trend is not very surprising. However, as far as how it relates to Pitt specifically, as well as a number of other schools with low numbers of recruits committed in mid-summer; it is fairly irrelevant. When Pitt and those others have close to their full compliment of recruits committed (probably not before December or even early January); I will take an interest in where Pitt's class fits in the overall recruiting hierarchy. Right now, I could care less--its way too early for any but the big name programs to have large numbers of commitments; and numbers have a huge effect (greater than stars) on these ratings.

i don't know if Pitt will eventually wind up higher than #66. However, I will be surprised if we don't wind up with a class averaging 3.00 stars or higher on signing day in February. How high it will actually be ranked, however will depend more on the numbers than the average stars. If we only have room for, say, 15-17 ships we won't be ranked very high due to the low numbers. However, if we shuffle the deck and see a class that would be in the top 30-35 if it had 25 commits (vs 15-17), we should be happy with the class. After all, in the end, overall roster talent level depends on average stars arriving with each recruiting class and not on the number of recruits in each class.

dc - its almost impossible for a p5 school to have average star ranking of less than 3.00 stars. you get 2 stars just by filling in your name.

the coaches created this whole 412 crew thing....they need to close the high end 412 guys.
