They were picked 4th. One of the main benefits of joining this league is if they were to have a very good season and win the Horizon Tournament, they could get a 12/13/14 seed which gives you a shot to win an NCAAT game. The NEC has never been to the Round of 32 and has only had a seed better than a 15 seed a couple times.

Looks like the Horizon is having them play back to back days at the same site vs the same team. I can understand that I guess but some of these schools are so close, what's the point in doing that? I mean they are hosting YSU on back to back nights. They can't bus it up the turnpike an hour the next night?

I sincerely hope this move helps Toole keep some kids around a bit longer than they were able to in the NEC. I don’t fault talented kids for raising their profile, but Toole is a good guy/heck of a coach and I felt awful when he lost all those kids to P6 schools a few years back when they could’ve really done something special. We need all 3 local D1 schools to be thriving

The point is to keep one of the teams from running off to some house party/super spreader and infecting both teams. I told you a month ago this was the plan. It’s almost like... I know what’s gonna happen

It's exactly what almost every conference did for volleyball. It limits the staff exposure since you aren't operating two separate venues. By scheduling the same matchup twice over a weekend, it also allows the teams to shift around opponents if there are postponements.

Since attendance will surely be significantly limited everywhere, the idea of playing on the road back to back is not all that meaningful. I suppose in a couple places like Syracuse and Louisville, even at 25% capacity, that might be a lot more fans than some other venues.

Volleyball (and hockey) did that pre-COVID.

I can't see major conferences doing that as home court advantage would be too great in some places, even at 25% capacity.

Expect Pitt to get all NC teams on the Road and Fla. State. Just saying it out loud.

What is stopping the home team from partying it up Friday night and then infecting both teams the next day?

Its almost like your answer is specifically in the post you quoted. I’ll repeat what it said since you can’t comprehend it. The point is to keep ONE OF THE TEAMS from running off to a house party.
