Among all the questions surrounding the Pitt basketball team that might define its season, it might not be rebounding or defense or depth that is most pivotal.
It might simply be a matter of better point guard play, better Panthers.
James Robinson has been the starter since his freshman year, providing ball security and a steady presence in the backcourt. But now entering his senior season, he has just one more go around to take things up a notch.
"We need to have him be one of the best point guards in the conference, and as a guy that's started for four years, that's what he needs to be," coach Jamie Dixon said at the team's Media Day earlier this month. "A lot of the teams that were the best last year in the conference had the best point guards. We feel with his experience, he should be amongst those guys."
Challenge accepted.
"Just looking across the ACC, it's always up to the guards to kind of get the team going in the right direction," Robinson said, echoing his coach.
