I'm tired of the "only 20% of D1 hoop schools make the tournament" argument. Most all of the remaining 80% are small school/small budget types or schools who care much more about spring football than their prospects to make the NCAA tournament.
This year I have followed closely both Pitt and Notre Dame. We have a family friend who plays for the Irish. It got me thinking about a Brey / Dixon comparison:
Brey:
16 years / 67% win / 1 Conf titles / 11 NCAA Tourneys / 4 r/o 64 losses / 4 r/o 32 losses / 1 r/o 16 loss / 1 r/o 8 loss / 1 TBD / 2014 salary 1.7m
Dixon:
13 years / 73% win / 3 Conf titles / 11 NCAA Tourneys / 2 r/o 64 losses / 6 r/o 32 losses / 2 r/o 16 losses / 1 r/o 8 loss / 2014 salary 3.2m
Both Pitt and ND had up and down seasons. The social media uproar was much more subdued for Brey than it was for Dixon. Is it the money? Is it the pro town mentality? Or is it totally justified?
