Roy Williams Retiring

Brad Stevens’ seat is beginning to warm up. The timing to bring him to UNC could happen. Hopefully they hire Wes Miller because I would not want to deal with Stevens every year.

Wow, this is one of the best coaching jobs in America regardless of pro or college. You'd think they could get anyone. Brad Stevens makes sense.

Who are the best coaches in America?

Bennett isnt going from UVa to UNC
Brad Underwood maybe?
Chris Beard?

Very interesting situation for Beard. Seems like his options are Texas and, apparently, UNC.

I agree with you, but there is talk of the player’s tuning out Stevens.
I think Stevens gets way too much credit as a coach. He's good, but he's not in the top 5 in the NBA.

I'm assuming you're only talking about college coaches?

capel to unc!

i kid....but would me or anyone be upset if he went elsewhere at this point?

UNC can get anyone. UNCG to UNCCH is too big a jump

You don’t need a salesman at UNC. You can pull a guy off the street and they could sell UNC with all the inherent benefits there, as you could argue UNC is the best job in America. Miller is a very good coach and satisfies their preference for keeping the job in the “family”. Just makes too much sense

Which is why they can hire a premier coach. Dont need "salesman" there. Just the best coach available. Miller is too green.

Stevens, Underwood, Drew, Oats, Musselman, guys like that

I could see Steve Robinson getting the gig for at least a few years to maintain continuity, kind of like Guthridge after Smith. Wouldn't be a very inspiring hire but he does have prior coaching experience at Florida State and has been first chair to Williams for almost two decades now.
