A poster on volleytalk does a weekly RPI futures list using some algorithm that games out final records and RPI rank based on current RPI .

At any rate. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this before . Pitt is projected 30-0 and have the #1 RPI .

Not necessarily surprising given what we’ve witnessed- but another nugget of just how remarkable this team is right now .

Yeah the bigger question seems to be whether they’ll lose a set, let alone a match. But surely they’ll stumble somewhere…like at Louisville or vs Stanford? I would like to see some kind of adversity before they play in a knock-out tourney where one loss sends you home.

I agree, at the very least a 5 setter where they are pushed to the brink. They had that in 1 set at USC where the won the set 31-29. But something to test composure under pressure.

I don't think there's anyway we manage to sweep both Louisville and Stanford. If they do, I'd obviously lose my mind, but I just don't think its possible.

I still think they lose a match - i mean an off night almost seems inevitable- just don’t be during the NCAAs.

That said - feels like there are only 3 maybe 4 matches where an upset seems plausible- Stanford . Louisville x2 and at SMU.

And , the way we’re playing, we’ll be favorites- perhaps prohibitve favorites in each.

I agree. But right now an off night would be dropping a set. Lol.

But I can certainly see a split with Louisville.

I would be surprised if we lost at home vs Stanford. I think they are vastly overrated and their big wins have come against struggling teams (Wisconsin early, Texas, Kentucky). Nebraska and Louisville both ran them out of the gym. I think @ LV and @ SMU are our two toughest matches in that order. SMU serves extremely aggressively and when their serving is on they are tough, hence sweeping Nebraska. When they are off though, they lose to Hawaii. So SMU could be an easy sweep or a hard fought loss depending on which SMU shows up. @ LV is always a tough place to play and at that point Pitt could already have the top seed locked up with LV playing for a top 4 seed so they may have more to play for than we do.
