They have the #2 and #3 pick in this summer's draft and are 8-6. NET of 84 and not close to the NCAAT. They can still go on a run and get there but please explain this.

We know 5* doesn’t mean everything. My bro is a Golden Domer and he was excited because they are bringing in 2 top recruits next year. Told him I don’t even care about that stuff anymore in the portal era. Yes, it’d be nice to get top guys, but it guarantees nothing. They may well be gone after one year.
The "portal era" explains this issue. Even top high school talent is going to struggle against guys like Ish, who may not be elite, pro talent, but who are bigger and stronger than these 18 year olds.
Forget Maleek Thomas and the one and dones.
Give me guys like Beebah who will be around for 4 years and college veterans like Nike Sibande who has 1k points before he came here.

Too bad BBInsider isn’t around anymore to tell us how great Steve Pikiell is. At least he has stability what with Brandin Knight having no motivation to become a head coach amirite SMF?
They aren't struggling. They are dominating. Usually kids are drafted based on potential but you can make the argument that those 2 kids are the 2 best players in college basketball right now but they aren't winning. The kid BK got from Georgia reminds me of Carmelo. Not sure I've seen a player like that in college since Melo.
I haven't watched them a ton but obviously those 2 take a ton of shots but they make a lot of them. Maybe its defense?
I think if this were 5, 10, 20 years ago, a team like this would be a Top 15ish team but college teams are so much better now because you have all 22 and 23 year olds and while they aren't as talented as Harper and Bailey, they are all very good players for what the college game style.
Dylan Harper has that floor general quality and kinda reminds me of Coby White. Have you seen Jeremiah Fears (Oklahoma) play? Raw, but has the potential to be a star.
Rutgers has played a tough schedule. Last game Harper was out. It's hard to win on the road with your two best players as true freshman. Rutgers will be different and better by February. Pikell is a very good coach.
