Ryan Luther needs to Transfer.

There's got to be something that we're unaware of like an injury or illness or I'd have to agree with you . Luther been grossly mishandled for two years , he should have been red shirted last year and once he started playing this season he's been under utilized. I tend to think JD knows more than me but in this case I'm not to sure.

I don't get this at all.He has to play. He's earned it for God sake! This whole game was the epitome of the whole dam# season. And it just makes you want to throw up.I think that's what I'm going to do.

I could only imagine what was going through his head just sitting on the bench, while watching his team struggle to score 21 points the whole 2nd half. Oh and watching Adodo take all his minutes.

Seriously 6 weeks of great play earned him that?? He should transfer and it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Dixon did him real dirty and he did the team dirty. I think Luther scores 6-8 in the 2nd half and we win with him in.

What a shame. A kid who hustles, is great on offense and defense doesn't even play in the 2nd half because the Head Coach is a dope. Pathetic really. I hope Luther transfers and stops wasting his time with Dixon.
Jmo but not going to be surprised at all if that's the next headline coming out of this program..actually will be surprised if he doesn't

Wouldn't surprise me just look at the number of kids for whatever reason have transfered out that last few years. Has to be a reason and it can't be all on the kids

Do you know how many kids transferred in D1 the last 3 years? Over 1500. But yeah, something must be wrong with us, since it happens everywhere.

Pitts has had a higher percentage of transfers by far than other comparable programs. That's a fact.

Link? Never mind. I will just agree you are right. Mostly those guys were going because they were recruiting misses, not because they were unhappy with playing time or anything. If Luther left, it would be different. But if a kid transfers because of one game, that's dumb. That's like quitting work after having a bad day.

Agreed!
He should have started or got in the game earlier! Send a message Dixon its ok to make a few players mad!
One of the few on the team who hustles, has talent, and is "aware" of whats going on around him.
The remainder are unmotivated, lazy players, maybe not even D1 caliber after what I saw on some of the lower level teams who scored the upsets.

I actually heard Luther likes Dixon a good amount, who knows after tonight.

But I do expect some guy (s) to leave and it could make matters worse.

It;\'s Dixon-he has his head up his tailpipe. The guy's completely lost it. His player utilization last night smacked of a coach who hadn't watched his personnel all year...beyond stupid.

This whole thing is stupid. Luther is on track for some major PT next season. It was one game. How many people quit their job because their boss made a mistake? It was one game. I am sure Dixon and Luther will talk. I think he will be a major factor for us going forward. If he transfers, well, it is what it is. But I have never heard of a player transferring because of one game. He got lots of PT during conference play, and has grown a lot this year. This whole thing is going straight to goofy town.

The only one I can see leave is Wilson. Not sure what pro league would pay Artis and Young. Those two aren't pro material anywhere on this planet except the Pittsburgh Pro-Am.

Wilson could leave and the backcourt would still have enough numbers. I'd rather Wilson stays and Jones moves on. I know Jones is a board favorite but I just don't see it. Cam needs those minutes next year.

I'm in favor of any move that allows Luther to play 30-plus minutes a game next year.

If any of those guys left it would be a good thing not a bad thing.
Obviously Luther should stay hes one of the few salavable players! But if Dixon leaves him on the bench when he should be in the game who knows!
I would hope 3 or so do leave so we can get plays on the team who actually want to play!
My wife and had a good laugh looking at the state of misbehavior and laziness in NCAA basketball.
Just look at a few of the P5 ranked teams who lost and watch how the lower level team out hustled the higher ranked team. Baylor won the ultimate prise!
We have some world class "slackers" on the PITT team as well!

Ya my post was stating I don't think Luther will leave either. He likes Dixon.

I don't think everyone else comes back though.

Sure it would. We could replace them with a 5 year transfer that won't or shouldn't be playing by years end. Why do we want to push people out when we have a coach who's shown recently he can't recruit or replace players?

If Luther does transfer, you would not blame him.

I was agreeing with you, though it wasn't evident perhaps. People are angry, rightfully so. There are things to be angry about, but people inventing stupid stuff that probably won't happen to get angry about is not necessary. Has a crazy mob mentality to it.

Because of one game? How many of you have quit a job because of a bad day at work, or if your boss made a really bad decision (in your eyes)? Jamie played him a lot the whole second half of the season. Based on what Luther has shown, he seems mature and a fighter. Perhaps people aren't giving him enough credit. He has nearly guaranteed playing time next year. Leave, sit out, waste a year, because you didn't get enough minutes in one game, nice.

Seriously, this has become mass hysteria. Let's not all lose our minds.

I believe people are just trying to make a point.
But with Dixon who knows he may treat Luther the same way next year!
My wife made a comment this morning maybe Dixon doesn't process date quickly enough to make game day on the spot decisions plus he has a weak staff.

I am very disappointed that Luther only played 4 minutes and think this was an inexplicable error on Dixon's part. I'm sure Ryan is even more disappointed.

However, I completely disagree with everything else in your post.

We need to start over with a new coach and new players!

So he will transfer because next year he may not play him enough in one game? Ok.

One of the greatest players in our history almost left because of how JD was handling him - Sam Young. A lot of players have not been used properly over the years.

Another board favorite because he's a yinzer yet suffers from the same thing most players Dixon has recruited recently suffer from: streaky offense w/ horrible fundamental defensive skills. Just Artis-light.

Please enlighten us with this story.
It is well known. We was unhappy with his minutes and felt he was being jerked around and not being used properly. This was during his 2nd year here. He was looking at WV among others. He was talked out of it thankfully.

If Sam was looking at WV, then he must have liked to sit on the bench. If he transferred to another Big East school, he would have had to sit out 2 years before being eligible to play.

There were others as well closer to his home in MD.

Maybe he broke some trivial rule and will be forced out next week?

I don't doubt that. I just wanted to emphasize that if Sam wanted more playing time, wv would have been a bad choice, since he would have had to sit for two years.

Dixon played Levon Kendell over Sam Young even though it was obvious Young had way more ability and worked his butt off.

Dixon has always had a propensity to favor older players. Happened again this season and last night.

Sam couldn't dribble and walk for the better part of two seasons. He could dunk if it only required one or two dribbles. His range was about 10 feet. Sam made himself what he was by the end of his career, but Kendall was the much better player when Sam was a freshman.
