I have a 6:30AM Tee time so thought I'd put down my thoughts early:

1. Good win. Ohio will be a bowl team and I thought the defense really controlled them. Much better performance than last week. Thought Twyman, the ends were active all day. As was Danielson. When Camp and Weaver went down you had to wonder if Narduzzi's depth on the DL would pay off and it clearly has.

2. I love Pine in the middle. Think it's his best position and this FLA transfer has an extra gear. Love how the LB's are playing and Cam Bright is just solid. Couple that with some serious CB's and you gotta think this D will keep us in a lot of games.

3. I thought a lot of folks panicked a little after the opening night loss. I mean it's not like UVA lined up and out talented us. Dropped passes, errant throws really were the story of that game and clearly the offense improved against Ohio but need to finish drives..

4. Gotta take the penalty and make it 3rd and 5 instead of 4th and 1. And to run a tight formation with your lightest back is a weird call. However, I do love Vincent Davis' explosiveness.

5. Here's where Pickett improved. On the throw to Ffrench for the long TD, he stepped up in the pocket and instead of panicking and taking off he threw a strike to Ffrench who used his speed to make the big play. More of that is needed. On the downside he does have a tendency to fire the ball up close on crossing routes. Needs to add a little touch.

6. I guess the Cuse talk can calm down a little.

7. I know that folks won't give us a chance against PSU but they have played no one and I think we could see our defense punch them in the mouth a little. Key will be giving number 8 some time to throw the ball.

8. I thought we got WAY too conservative in the 4th Q up only 10. I mean your on their side of the field and you run it 3 times and punt. Need to be a little more aggressive but I like close to 500 yards of offense.

9. Antonio Brown signing with the Patriots. What a shock! Can Tom Brady retire already.

10. Army Army Army. up 14-7 in the red zone and you throw an interception. SHEESH! Run it and kick the short FG and you probably win that game.

11. the old John Thompson Gtown teams in their hey day used to hold on their press on every play and refs just couldn't make every call. I think to a certain extent our corners are so physical and probably take liberties that refs just can't call every single borderline call. I'll say this they are making throwing windows very short. Mathis is playing at a very high level.

12. Jackson or Pine HAVE to make that play. Walk in TD. But great play by Danielson.

13. I watched Warren and Morrissey a lot. Both had very good games. Ulizio not so much. Teams are going to blitz to that side a lot. He's feet are not the fastest.

14. Worried about pre-snap penalties. I mean if we got so many of them in a cavernous Heinz Field what are we going to do in a packed Beaver Stadium.

15. I'm ok splitting next two games. Very ok with that.

16. I don't get what Salahuddin did. Narduzzi was protecting the kid after surgery and with Carter now banged up as he got healthier he would have gotten some play. Thought the decision to transfer was very rash. Wish the kid good luck but still scratching my head.

17. I wonder if Pitt uses more jumbo TE formations next week with Wheeler hurt. I'm also worried about Kessman. Put I know the feeling of hitting a fat shot.

18. I'm expecting the offense to keep improving and as the saying goes defense travels. So good to have one under our belt and time for the meat of the OCC schedule. Can't wait until next week.
