The guy know hoops and is at least solid in discussing the tournament . The rest of the on air talent blows led by the laziest media eff in pgh. Ron cook
Putting him with mueller was good. They both are pretty self deprecating and mueller is probably my favorite guy on the fan.He maybe the most all around sports guy in town. But he obsesses with some things. I do have to admit, he has grown on me and gotten better. And he has a pretty good sense of self deprecation humor, which is lost on alot of people but I like people who do.
It is a complete slap in the face to Pitt fans to hire this 2-bit Hoopie. In no way is this worth starting a separate thread, but since we’re talking personalities on Da Fan here, how about Adam Crowley joining them?
…and doing weekend fill in type stuff where I guess he’ll spew all his pro-WVU/anti-Pitt BS. Oh well.
I am not a fan of Mueller at all. But I will say this. Splitting him and Starkey and putting Starkey with Cook and Mueller with Poni was a great decision. There’s more chemistry between hosts on those two shows from 10-6 in its current format. Mueller and Starkey were unlistenable together. Now I can handle both shows in small doses.Putting him with mueller was good. They both are pretty self deprecating and mueller is probably my favorite guy on the fan.
Cook is awful, and having poni with him was a horrific combo.
What’s funny about him too is he’s basically got Mark Madden’s blessing to be his successor and praises him to high heavens. Could you imagine the “next Mark Madden” being a raging Hoopie fan? YikesIt is a complete slap in the face to Pitt fans to hire this 2-bit Hoopie.
Poni has talent. His talent happens to be in the vein of Colin Cowherd/Skip Bayless, but he is good at it. There is a reason he is constantly being made fun of on Twitter for "idiotic takes." He knows how to thread the needle of saying ridiculous stuff but not crossing the line of you not taking him seriously at all.He maybe the most all around sports guy in town. Zeise on the other hand…the worst takes I’ve ever heard pretty consistently.Poni has talent. His talent happens to be in the vein of Colin Cowherd/Skip Bayless, but he is good at it. Filiponi is one of only a handful of local media guys who know college basketball. This is due to his Syracuse background. The guy know hoops and is at least solid in discussing the tournament . The rest of the on air talent blows led by the laziest media eff in pgh. Ron cook
I don't know what anyone sees in Mueller. That guy talks just to hear himself talk. And he talks incessantly and I can't believe in all that time there isn't a bank of lights flashing waiting for callers to get on the air while he ignores them. He's also condescending to callers and once, yelled at a guy to stop yelling and he was the one who was actually yelling. I've heard him hang up on someone once. If I owned that station he'd be the first to go.Putting him with mueller was good. They both are pretty self deprecating and mueller is probably my favorite guy on the fan.

good take and i agree. he does seem to laugh at himself a bit and not take things to serious. i actually kinda like poni and mueller show. i dont want to fight someone after it like i do when listen to ron cook or paul zeise. He maybe the most all around sports guy in town. Yeah his condescension towards callers and stuff is annoying. He's annoying. I know his family and I still think he's annoying. Poni is good, except obsesses (they all do) over the Steeler QB and the NFL.I don't know what anyone sees in Mueller. That guy talks just to hear himself talk. 2016…he predicted Syracuse to win all three games they played against Pitt…and this was on the freaking pitt pre game show. He's a shill that was anti-Pitt everything when he hit town in trying to be a shock jock. When that didn't work, he got the "talk" and changed his style. Total fake and not a Pittsburgh guy. Would love to see him ride his poni out of town.
Zeise? He is literally one of the least knowledgeable people I’ve ever listened to on college basketball…he seriously thought pitt could attract brad stevens which is what I expect to see from homer fans on thus board but not from a dude on the radio.Yeah his condescension towards callers and stuff is annoying. He's annoying. I know his family and I still think he's annoying. Poni is good, except obsesses (they all do) over the Steeler QB and the NFL.
That's really a problem with local sports, they obsess and equate everything to the NFL or the Penguins.
The lack of college sports understanding is horrible in this town.
Mueller to his defense, has a pretty good handle on college FB and BB. Poni more college BB.
Other than that?? Zeise like him or hate him has some decent college sports knowledge, no one. Not even Savran or Pompeani. And many, like Madden, DK, and some others are outright dismissive of it.
I used to hate him. How could a Syracuse grad be the pregame Pitt basketball host? He's a shill that was anti-Pitt everything when he hit town in trying to be a shock jock.
