Thanks for putting this up. Basically, here's how I look at it as it stands today - that's assuming nobody leaves early...which we all know isn't going to happen, but it's easier to play it out this way. It's also assuming that nobody takes a redshirt other than Horton's required transfer redshirt this year.

Easy way to look at it. If we assume Jeffress is coming then George and Kene have to leave. Then we'd be at 13.

We need to get a PG in place to get a year in while Xavier is still here. We are tossing ships to forwards but either missing or passing on guards. From the looks of it we are passing on solid guards and whiffing on higher rated star guards. I trust Capel he's in a sawed off shotgun home defense spot and adding food for the famine. But at some point we need some guards.

One in next class will be just fine.

Sounds like they are going hard after that Warley kid.

I just wonder if Pitt/Capel will bring in a guard (of some sort) for 2021. Let's say everyone guard comes back - XJ, Trey, Murphy, can Horton handle it? Maybe they won't if this happens. Is there a logjam at the forward spot - Collier, Champagnie, Toney, Jeffress?

I'm no basketball expert/connoisseur of any kind. I put my thoughts and guesses on the message boards haha. We have 2 bigs for 2020, then Coulibaly, Brown...

Maybe another shooter/scorer off the bench or a possible re-class from 2021 - Sanogo or someone else??

Assuming Kene and George leave, we definitely take 1 and I bet Capel would *like* another recruit.

19-20 Johnson
20-21 Johnson
21-22 Johnson
22-23 Hood-Schifino

Johnson isnt close to being an NBA player but that's not to say he wont go leave for Europe or improve where he leaves after his junior year. Either way, I think we are good at PG for the next decade. Add in some JUCO guys and grad transfers to back up. The problem is that if they were to add a highly ranked PG, that could cause a guy like JHS to re-evaluate.

Assuming Chukwuka and George do leave, then, a Grad Transfer backup point guard commit is a possibility for this spring/summer if Jeffress commits for the class of 2021 instead of reclassifying to the Class of 2020. If he reclassifies, probably no new point guard is coming for next season. It isn't that immediately concerning IMHO, since I still believe, McGowens can be/become a backup point for next season. The need for a freshman point guard isn't absolutely necessary, IMHO, until the class of 2021 when he can backup XJ and/or McGowens when they are seniors.

Also, I know that Hood-Schfino is tall for a point guard but maybe he can play it as an incoming 5-star--perhaps even a one and done.

As to your "logjam" at forward concern. I am not convinced that is a real problem. At that point in time I believe Collier may play PF when we play 2-bigs simultaneously (he can be one) most of the time. Jeffress might do the same and share with Collier if he is a true 6-7 or bigger. Also, we will surely run some single big lineups (with 2 small forwards and two guards) at least some of the time. Overall,I believe we will not see true 3-guard lineups (like Murphy + XJ + McGowens) as we are forced to use now due to our current roster makeup.

Just my opinions, however. I am not Capel and don't know what he will actually do.

Just like Roy W. wants a 2 PG type of style in NC. I'm not opposed to having something like that here because with Jalen being a big PG if someone comes in a little smaller that's okay with me it's better to have two good ball-handlers on the court at all time if possible IMO.
