Xavier has 20 wins and is comfortably above .500. Crowd is very enthusiastic. Time for Pitt to at least put out feelers for Sean in my opinion. Sean has a proven record. It would not be a risky gamble to hire him, like it might be to hire an unproven young hot shot. He would be good with alumni and hopefully bring some stability and renewed enthusiasm.

How is it not a risky hire? Everyone is paying players now so he's lost most of his competitive advantage and his family seems to dislike Pitt while having a lot of connections in the area so there is an opportunity for a lot of bad PR. No one under the age of 50 would be excited, and a large percentage of the people who do know and care who he is do not have a positive opinion.

If he hadn't played here, would you be pining for someone with his resume? He's made the tournament once in his last 6 years (one was the COVID year where Arizona was projected to be in, so we can give him 2/6 if you want instead of 1/5) and he has a lot of baggage.

There are many, many better options for what Pitt is willing to pay.

First of all, Capel isn't getting fired this season. Second of all, Miller isn't leaving Xavier for Pitt after only 2 seasons.

I hope that you are correct. We are no longer even regarded as a good career booster stop for young coaches. Need someone with a track record who can at least fix the hole in the boat by bringing in some P4 level talent that can get us to the Dance most years and finish at least 4 games or so above .500 in the ACC or Big East, whichever one we land in during the next 2 or three years.

He ain’t coming here. He is loved at X.

If we go Alumni, it has to be Knight. I'd like to see him bring Woodall as an assistant.

Obviously. I mean why not hire an assistant coach who has won nothing at all terrible program. Why don't we hire an assistant from BC or GT?

My Lord….

If Toole leaves RMU and BK desperately wanted the RMU job, he would not necessarily get it. Rutgers has been medicore at best under that staff. And people think he's qualified to coach Pitt. They have the the #2 and #3 NBA Draft picks and can't win a game. This may be the worst coaching jobs in recent NCAA memory. I mean I seriously doubt that a team with 2 top 3 or top 5 or maybe even top 10 picks has ever missed the NCAAT and they aren't even remotely close.

Such a good post. If you’ve watched Rutgers this year it’s not like they are totally bereft of talent other than the 2 lottery picks either. They had multiple games this year where they just didn’t show up, and others where they started well enough, but looked lost after halftime. That coaching staff stinks. For a team with 2 lottery picks to have to sneak into the BIG tournament on the final day of the regular season is a disgrace.

Not just 2 lotto. The #2 and #3 picks. It's insanity. All-time bad coaching job

No need to look beyond the Pete for a terrible assistant coach who has won nothing at a terrible program.
