SEC/ACC matchups announced for men and women hoops.

Solid program, but a boring matchup, especially having just played them in MAR23. They are probably feeling much of the same.

this is far better than Missouri at home, regardless of the result in the eyes of NET

That is simply not true. If we go down there and get blown off the court it will be a big hit to our NET rating. And the problem with the Missouri game wasn't that we played them, it's that we lost to a team that bad. Had we blown them off the court (like we should have) it would have helped our NET rating.

The problem with NET is that there is no value placed on when the game was played. Missouri went 0-18 in a really tough league so yes, that isnt good. But they had just won at Minnesota, who went 19-15 and lost fairly close games at Kansas and at SHU after us. They weren't anywhere close to Stallings bad. They lost Caleb Grill, a solid player, not a great player, but a streaky dude that they win 2 or 3 SEC games with.

And the reason we didnt make the NCAAT is, yes, that we played Missouri. If that game ended up being canceled due to Covid or some other freakish reason, we were in. Losing a home game to a team that we were favored to beat by 7 at the time is an obscene reason to not make it. We werent that good then. They werent that bad. It was a bad loss at the time because of our lack of opportunities given the weak schedule but on paper, losing a home game as a 7 point favorite shouldn't be the death knell. We were one of the best 15 or so teams on March 16 but the committee doesnt watch games and they no longer officially take how a team is playing at the end of the season into account. November results play an overly important factor in selecting the field.

The amount of excuses you try to make for losing a game that we had no business losing, to a team that went 0 for the SEC, is simply astounding.

That was a bad team and an awful loss.

Full stop.
