SEC goes Conference Only

So Georgia Tech doesn’t have to get slaughtered by Georgia. That’s a positive.

Does anyone see a movement for P5 schools to split and almost form a league separate from the rest of college football down the road? It could open the door for regional conferences that restores traditional rivalries and lead to a monster TV deal if they incorporate an expanded playoff format.

SEC gets it right. Ten conference games. No out of conference foes. No payments to FCS schools. And no ACC games. Kudos to the SEC. Of course, we really don't know if any games will be played,

Even without the COVID crisis it looked like things might be heading that way, either the ACC, Big 12 or PAC-12 gets cannibalized so there’s four conferences with either 16, 18 or 20 teams. It could keep the playoff at 4 teams since the conference championship games would be a defacto first round.

A shame they opted to eliminate those rivalry games. They are all in state games and have extra meaning to determine conference strength of schedule

So if players test positive does that mean that teams don't play for 2 weeks? No make up games? Nuts, crazy, etc SMH

The P5 seems to be separating itself right now and there will be a lot of discussions when it comes to budget, so a regionalized conference system could make sense. I don't think the Pac 12 needs to get broken up, but rather all of the conferences broken down into 5 conferences of 12-14 teams each based on geography.

What happens if a team has a decent number of players on a two week quarantine?

I do want to know the plan. Enough teams have had outbreaks and we've seen the Marlins have a significant outbreak as well. It's definitely going to happen and it's not going to be limited to a single team. Just too many moving parts with college students coming in from all over the country, living in dorms, and going to parties. Unless they create a self-contained football bubble on campus, I have a hard time seeing schools having the ability to prevent outbreaks.
