semi OT - Dawkins out at Stanford

This is a job that Dixon might be interested in. And they have so much money, a buyout isn't out of the question.

It has to make one laugh listening to this shit. He can't coach he can't recruit but every big time HC position that opens etc. Grow up people he's the coach at Pitt and he is going to stay there for awhile whether you like it or not.

Stanford has PRETTY HIGH ACADEMIC requirements doubt that they take questionable kids

Why? Seriously, why? Jamie is a Pittsburgh guy. He would have no interest in going to the west coast unless it was a step up in the program and money. He made that clear with the USC job when it was open. Why does this nonsense constantly keep coming up every time there is an opening? Very irritating besides being stupid.

Probably because seemingly every time a job opened up on the West Coast, Dixon parlayed it into more money from Pitt.

I would presume the expectation exists that Dixon may flirt again.

I'll give you reasons this might be interesting:

1 Jamie's wife is from the Bay area and still has family here.

2. Easier to win the PAC12 then the ACC

3. Opportunity for a fresh start

4. With all due respect to our beloved alma mater, Stanford is more prestigious then Pitt

5. Great weather vs. not-so-great

I'm not saying that Jamie will consider Stanford, but it's not completely out of the question.

That's pretty convincing. Maybe I'll apply.

If Dixon isn't confident he'd win big again at Pitt, and Barnes isn't fully supporting him, Dixon would probably take this job in a heartbeat. This is the softest landing he could possibly get.

That's probably the only scenario where I can see Dixon leaving Pitt. He does need to feel that he can win big again at Pitt and get the support of the administration while doing it.

And Dixon's wife is a Pittsburgher just as much as Dixon is. She wants to stay here.

The other reasons are reasonable but not enough to change for him.

He has already turned them down before.

Archie Miller,Tommy a maker listed as top 2 candidates by San Fran chronicle. Boy would that give John a heart attack if arch got that job

6. Well overdue for a massive 8.5 earthquake during the Cal game

Stanford, like PITT, does not take partial qualifiers. Go to the SEC, hire a bag man and recruit your brains out! Results will follow.

Tommy Turtleneck? If I'm a Stanford booster I'd flip out. They've already participated once in the Duke coaching experiment. Archie Miller? I'd think they'd go after someone with some ties to the recruiting area although I guess his big bro could help him out (or not).
