Here’s my thoughts on the coaching search. I’m all-in on Hurley. He’s the best candidate available and he’d be able to bring Pitt basketball back to where it was before. If we don’t get him, move on to the next one. There’s a lot of good coaches we can get for that type of money.
I’m also glad that we didn’t hire Sean. This school is more than a basketball program and the risk would simply be too big. He’s also not the only candidate that could get us back to the tournament, so why take that chance of jeopardizing our reputation and integrity for one guy, especially since, again, we can get another good coach for that money? Regardless of who we hire, there’ll still be Pitt basketball next year and we’ll still make it back to the tournament soon.
I trust Heather to make a good choice and you should, too. I’ve let this search consume me over the past 5 days so I’m going relax, let it play out, and support whoever she hires. Hail to Pitt.
