Seriously all of you that keep telling me I’m too negative

If it weren't for all the social problems and the tragedies that are part of life I would actually feel sorry for these players. But they have alot going for them, can gain the experience of playing DI basketball in the ACC, and enjoy going to school at Pitt. It is best that they stick together over the next 3 months.

can stuff it. This is a total dumpster fire.
Of course it is. None of these kids have played D1 basketball before. We knew this.

Do yourself a favor. Don't get caught up in every game. Set your your sights on 12 wins or so, evaluate the team at the end of the year, and evaluate KS and the team on their ability to get better and KS on his Spring recruiting.

Or do yourself a favor and evaluate what Stallings has done since 1993.

I think this is good perspective, and that would be much easier if there was some significant recruiting wins. Carr is a nice player, Davis is a good find, Stephenson is doing well. Not sure what else we have. In the incoming class Golden is a good pickup, and Kingsby is lighing up JuCo, but we complain about Dixon recruiting. He had 3 top 150s in his last 2 classes which totaled 6 players (+ grad transfers) and Stallings is sitting on 2 top 150s among his 11 recuits (+ transfers).

I know rankings don't mean everything, but it is not the easy uptick in recruiting that I was promised when JD departed.

That is the problem...recruiting us actually worse right now, at least on paper. Carr looks good, Shamiel could be good, but beyond that?

Given the state of things, that stallings ran a bunch of people off, and the amount of PT he had to offer, the class that stallings brought in this year needed to include at least 3 guys that could be ACC level starters..I am fairly confident in Carr, Stevenson is a maybe, and the rest, perhaps they could grow into it but right now it isn’t promising.

Also, we know what sort of coach stallings is, and know he has underachieved with high level talent. His last team at vandy had two 1st round picks I believe, and barely squeaked into a play in game. Last year he had the to scoring duo in the ACC, and went 4-14.

I’m not doing this to bring up JD, but from a coaching perspective compare the talent on our 2011 #1 seed and vandy’s 2015 11/12 seed....I think that is a glaring example of what stallings is as a coach.

I'm with you, though I will say that I see Davis as a clear piece going forward, and that is a pleasant surprise. Low end he can play a Chris Jones role, high end he is Cam Wright. That isn't the type that can carry a team on their back, but it is a necessary to have those guys in the rotation on a good club.

I do think Stallings can recruit better but playing terribly doesn't actually help.

We will never know what the actual plan was this offseason, but I would love to know, did he want to bring in grad transfers to bridge the gap? Did he think he had some other big men?

I mean, I would honestly prefer 10 minutes of Rozelle Nix to 10 minutes of Kene Chukwuka.

Davis is indeed a clear piece. I thought he was easily Pitt's best player today, on both ends of the court.

He had a defensive possession tonight where he blocked the guy's shot and then a few seconds later deflected a pass that led to a turnover. He looks like a good defender already (with the caveat that he's got to keep it up when the competition gets better) and he looks like he has the potential to be more than that.

-We are -10 in rebounding against McNeese State and Delaware State.
