Does anyone legitimately think there is any chance that PN would get rid of Shawn Watson after going 7-5 in the regular season and winning the costal?!

Not to mention 3 of their 5 losses have come against top 15 teams in the nation. There is no way Watson gets the boot after this season.

It's not likely but Watson is not a very good OC. I think if the right opportunity presented itself, we would move on from Watson....and vice/versa.

Nor should he. Watson did very well. Recruit some Linemen.

Does he recruit well?
Does he develop QB’s to the point we saw improvement as the year went on?
Does he call an innovative gameplan that was hard for defenses to prepare for?

I’m not sure I give a yes to any of those and those are the 3 things that are vital to a college OC.

Make a big push to get Eric Kasperowicz. Guy calls a great offense @PR. Would be a lockdown recruiter for the WPIAL and has done a phenonimal job developing qb’s there. Not just DiNucci and Jurkovec, but Cole Spencer is not very good and he still calls an offense that keeps the offense putting up massive amounts of points.

Pitt struggles when the WR can't get open and the OL can't block the DL. When that is not the case Watson does a great job.

Exactly. Only change I’d make to the statement is that instead of Pitt, I’d write it this way:

“Everyone struggles when the WR can't get open and the OL can't block the DL.....”

He’s already said no to a job with pitt football.

No chance he cans him but I’m hoping for the slight chance pitt brings in a new coordinator/play-caller and Watson is demoted to qb coach. Not that I think he’d be any good just in that role but it would be better than him calling plays again.

I’d keep coach Watson. I think our offense is more diverse next year. I think a second year of Coach Borbs will really help our pass protection as well as our run blocking. We have talent to carry the ball. I’m bullish on the 2019 season.

Please lord find a new, young, innovative OC. It is the predominant reason for this programs lack of progress. In an era of offensive innovation and progress we are mired in the 1979-80s. Pleas lord fire Watson and pay someone who can move this offense into the age of modern football. It will save this program.

Think they young innovative thing scares Duzz because anyone who has success here leaves for the dough. Only OC he has had for multiple seasons is Watson.

Heather need a to step in and put her foot down in this one, seems like she did it with other programs and football shouldn't be an exception. She seems to see the problems and hears the fans... if it was just a game or two like this fine... but the whole begging if the year only scoring what 3 points the second half of the first 3 games and 3 points against Miami and so forth needs to be a change at OC... defense seems to be progressing while since Watson was here past two years offense degressed.

They did well against IMG.

The program doesn't need saving. It may be nothing special or be where we would like for it to be, but Pitt has a decent program.

The predominant reason for the programs lack of success is recruiting. For whatever reason, Pitt has failed to recruit at a high level since the Gottfried era.

Tonight played out almost exactly how everybody thought it would because of the difference in talent between Pitt and Clemson.

We were willing to open the checkbook up, and in the end we settled for a filler not a program changer. Either nobody wants to coach here to build something, or Narduzzi doesn’t have the connections or ability to sell it. Pitt is in the perfect position to win a crappy division. As long as we keep it two divisions we will get a shot again.

We need a dynamic QB and a creative OC. We were very close to that with peterman and Canada. Peterman was good, but Canada was excellent and able to do wonders with less.

I really don’t think Watson will be back especially if they close out year losing 3 straight. Either OC or Pickett is the problem!

Our checkbook is nowhere near the same as the big-time programs. 80k fans = more $ than 40k fans. We cannot compete with them. In the end, they will outbid us.

There is no embarrassment in loosing to Clemson, what was embarrassing was delivering plays late to Kenny that put the team in panic mode, which led to stupid penalties, which forced Pitt into too many third and longs and the blitz pressure that comes with it, with the added plus of destroying our QB’s confidence. I am still scratching my brain on why you would run Kenny on back to back plays up the middle when you have great running backs and the game is still on the line. An OC change may not be warranted, but these coaching mistakes continue. At a minimum, Pitt needs a QB consultant to work with Kenny and adjust the playbook to his strengths. Anyone have Walt’s phone number?

LSU’s offer dwarfed ours. That is exactly my point.
The point is we opened it big time. Big enough to attract better than Watson. That is the point. We were willing, but nobody seemed to be interested, or Narduzzi didn’t spread his net wide enough. We offered more money than anyone not named OSU, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, and a handful of others. There are strong OCs out there not making near what we offered Canada.

If Narduzzi doesn't make the move, we have an athletic director who has not been afraid to get rid of unsuccessful coaches.

We have had at least 2 teams outright say after playing us “we knew exactly what they (Pitt) were going to do”

Now when we’re physically the equal of our opponent - and IF we execute at a high level - then our current offense can be very effective.

However, when we’re over matched talent wise and/or the opponent out executes us - we suffer badly like the last 2 games.

Under Canada, we overcame our overall talent differential against superior athletes but creating confusion in our opponents.

Now - with the same talent differential, we have an offensive philosophy which doesn’t emphasize deception, or trickeration, or anything to create uncertainty. And we suffer when we’re playong the Penn States, the ND’s, the Clemsons.

I don’t mind Watson - I just want him to start micro-dosing acid or something to expand his imagination.
