Should have just hired Mussleman?

Too rigid for All Holy Pitt. Dude is insane. He would be so pissed after a loss when at Golden State he got into several scuffles 35,000 feet in the air. Perfect at an SEC school that will let him do whatever it takes to win.

Surprised Porter Moser hasn't been linked to more openings. Were people worried he was a flash in the pan?

I’d be stunned if Moser doesn’t end up at Marquette or another Midwest P6 opening. He’s a fantastic coach and deserves a shot at a high major.

As for Musselman, you have to be at a place that will hold their nose a bit on admissions for him to work. It’s less of an issue now with guys moving around due to the NCAA waiver, but ordinarily you’d have to navigate some academic/off court stuff with some of the guys so a cooperative administration is a necessity

Musselman was by far the best coach we were linked with, there's really no contest. It always seemed like wishful thinking, though, so I'm not sure there's any point in exploring the hypothetical now.

That's why the phrase coaching matters is so true. What would be different with Musselman here compared to Capel? Like everything, in a much more positive direction. I was excited like most with the Capel hire but after researching his record more and seeing what he's done here at Pitt? In retrospect the hire was a bad one. And not trying to be a Debbie Downer but it's not going to change. He's made the NCAA Tournament 3 times in 12 seasons. His teams consistently collapse. We're not getting a Blake Griffin coming here so Pitt needs to rely on strong coaching. He doesn't provide that. It's a shame it really is but Pitt isn't going anywhere until he is gone and we get a better coach.

100%

If we hired Musselman we would have already been back in the tournament.
Don't get saucy!

Wasn't Pitt also talking to Nate Oats? If so, there is very much a contest--in fact I'd take Oats over Musselman all day every day.
